Scheduled for a September release, Paramount has officially released the trailer of the upcoming film Transformers One, marking Hemsworth’s third endeavor in conquering blockbuster franchises.

Paramount has officially released the first trailer at the next installment in the blockbuster franchise Transformers. Directed by Josh Cooley, the film stars Chris Hemsworth alongside Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron and Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1.

The animated film is set on the planet Cybertron and delves into the dynamic between Optimus Prime and Megatron while tracing their evolution from comrades to adversaries. The trailer features Prime and Megatron as young and inexperienced robots, who are referred to as Orion Pax and D-16.

Without the ability to transform, they embark on a journey to the forbidden surface of Cybertron, where they eventually gain the ability to transform. When faced with a new villain, they must use their newfound powers to stop him, leading to comical mishaps and improvised defenses.

The trailer surely looks different from what the fans have been accustomed to for the previous films in the franchise. The film also features Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion.

Chris Hemsworth on Why He Accepted Transformers One

Transformers One adds to another successful franchise in Chris Hemsworth’s repertoire after the MCU and Mad Max. The actor revealed that he was drawn to the project because of the script and his children’s excitement about his involvement.

He told Collider,

It looks incredible. I love the script. That was one where I was not sure, I hadn’t done animation before, and then I mentioned it to my kids, and they went, ‘Oh yeah, that’s awesome!’ — It’s cool, it’s exciting. It’s Optimus Prime, come on!”

It also marks Hemsworth’s first foray into animated feature films outside of the MCU, where he voiced Thor in the Marvel series What If…? The film is directed by Josh Cooley, known for his work on Toy Story 4, and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Originating from the Hasbro toy line, the Transformers franchise began with the 1986 animated film before transitioning to live-action adaptations helmed by Michael Bay. Travis Knight directed the sixth installment, Bumblebee, and Steven Caple Jr. helmed the seventh installment, Rise of the Beasts.
