Back in 2017 when Scarlett Johansson starred in the manga-turned-movie Ghost in the Shell. The Jojo Rabbit actress was brutally trolled for allegedly stealing the role of Asian actresses by starring as the lead herself.

Although it isn’t clear if she was involved in the decision at all, it was reported that the producers of the movie had tried visual effects on the American actress to make her look more…Asian. Proven unsuccessful, Paramount Pictures released a statement concerning the same and stated that they will not do more visual tests in the future.

“A test was done related to a specific scene for a background actor which was ultimately discarded. Absolutely no visual effects tests were conducted on Scarlett’s character and we have no future plans to do so,”

After a hiatus of 8 years, Nancy Meyers is all set to return to the $130 million movie with Netflix with Scarlett Johansson in the lead role. Although not many details have been revealed yet, people ecstatically await the return of Meyers in her director chair.
