Marvel’s filing with the United States Copyright Office revealed several engrossing updates for fans, especially those who are most enthusiastic about the series. Amid a transparent disclosure of a few characters, it revealed that Hannibal and Ella Enchanted star Hugh Dancy is set to play the iconic Marvel villain.

For reference, the 48-year-old has a remarkable career to his name. His role as Kurt Schmid in Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down and several other prominent roles has made his name prominent in Hollywood. Prior to Freshman Year, the British actor voiced two episodes of the adult stop motion-animated sketch comedy, Robot Chicken.

While most details of the character are not revealed yet, it is evident that the new iteration of Doc Ock will not extensively follow its previous appearances. Reportedly Dancy’s character will be a mix of the original comic book design blended with the likes of the 90s Spider-Man: The Animated Series. Also, the first glance at the new iteration of the character doesn’t showcase its iconic metallic arms. Perhaps, fans will have to wait a little longer for that.
