Xbox-exclusive Gears of War developer, The Coalition, is hiring for multiple roles.

The Coalition is a first-party studio within Xbox Game Studios, which is based in Vancouver, Canada. It is best known for developing games in the Xbox-exclusive Gears of War franchise. The company developed the last game in the series, Gears 5 that was released in 2019. The next installment, Gears 6, is said to be in the works and the hirings are probably for the upcoming game.

The Coalition is currently hiring for 8 profiles as per LinkedIn, and some of them mention Gears of War. The current openings include Quality Assurance Lead, Tools Programmer, UI Software Engineer, Senior Technical Artist, Online Service Engineer, Senior Rendering Engineer, Senior Systems Engineer, and Senior Builds and Automation Engineer.

Apart from the current job openings, the studio has already hired five new employees who have joined the studio as of January-February 2024. These new hires are Eric Luhta, Senior Gameplay Animator, Dan Scott, Senior Game Animator, Ernest Avakian, 3D Level Artist, Joseph Walden, UI Software Engineer, and Hamid Ahmadzai, Software Test Engineer.

This hints that the developer might be gearing up for the next game in the famed franchise and it might be coming sooner than fans expected. Gears 6 hasn’t been announced yet, but the online chatter about the game has piqued fan’s interest in what it might bring to the series.

Hirings at The Coalition Could Potentially Mean Gears 6 Announcement May Be Near

Gears 6 haven't been officially announced and the reveal might be coming soon.
Gears 6 haven’t been officially announced and the reveal might be coming soon.

It’s been nearly 5 years since Gears 5 was released and there hasn’t been any official update on Gears 6 from The Coalition, but some previous reports stated that the studio first had multiple projects it was working on. There were also rumors that the studio canceled two projects and would focus only on Gears 6.

The Coalition announced that it was shifting to Unreal Engine 5 for game development, but there was no mention of a new installment in the series. Earlier last year, a report from an insider stated that the studio has been working on the project for a while and the game is in further stages of development.

It was also added that the studio would expand the semi-open world setting from Gears 5 in the next title. However, there has not been any kind of official announcement on the game and this hiring indicates the studio might soon give out some information about Gears 6, probably sometime in 2024.
