The latest season of Fortnite Battle Royale, Myths & Mortals, has introduced quite a series of changes and developments to the ongoing narrative of the game. With the new season, players can go against Greek gods, acquire Mythic weapons/items, and new points of interest to fly over.
While players have been enjoying soaring over the skies of the Fortnite island, a recent change has put down the morale of competitive players. If you’re someone who wishes to participate in the game’s Tournaments, it’s unlikely that you can use this latest item to your advantage.
Wings of Icarus Has Had a Massive Impact on Fortnite’s Mobility
Ever since the latest season arrived, players in Fortnite Battle Royale have been soaring into the skies once they’ve obtained the Wings of Icarus during the match. This is an Epic item that can be looted from chests, or even purchased from certain NPCs.
As fun as these are, Tournament players won’t be able to use the item in-game anymore. From the looks of it, it seems like this change is supposed to improve the balancing and overall meta of competitive play.

This may come as a shock to the community, even though many players aren’t fans of the item, to begin with. The season is still fresh, and many players might have plans on making use of this item as a core part of their gameplay. However, do note that the item is still available in Ranked, in case you’re leaning towards the competitive edge anyway.
Until the Game Has Another DBZ collab, this is One of the Few Items that Makes Players Feel Like Absolute Legends
A year ago, Fortnite Battle Royale introduced some of Dragon Ball’s most beloved characters in the game. Moreover, the update also brought in gameplay changes, where players could use abilities like Kamehameha and completely obliterate other players.
Considering how Akira Toriyama recently passed away, it’s not surprising to see Fortnite players wanting to re-create history, and Wings of Icarus is the closest you’ll come to feeling like a legend in the current meta.
Seeing how popular the item is at the moment, there’s little to no chance that Wings of Icarus will be completely removed from Fortnite during this season. Next season? Probably. But, at the time of writing, feel free to hop into the battle royale and grab yourself one of the strongest items on the island.
