Alan Wake 2 was a massive success for Remedy Entertainment and writer Tyler Burton Smith deserves to be recognized for his work. Smith has built a name and a reputation for himself with his previous works and will be adding Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin to his resume.
Not to be confused with the upcoming video game based on the same name and story, Paramount is moving forward with a live-action adaptation that has an R-rating.
Alan Wake 2 And Quantum Break Writer Will Work On TMNT Movie
It was recently announced that Paramount Pictures will be bringing back the turtles in a half shell to the big screen once more but in a more mature, dark, and gritty approach. The tonal shift is quite significant after the studio found success with the animated feature film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, but producer Walter Hamada believes it can be translated well into reality.
There is also another adaptation of the popular comic, but in the form of a video game from Black Forest Games. While more TMNT content is great for the fans, it is quite an unusual move for Paramount to greenlight a film when there is already a video game adaptation in the works and both share the same story.
Regardless, it is exciting to see what Smith has to offer and how his experience working with Remedy Entertainment has influenced his work in a different form of media. Perhaps fans of the franchise are now ready for a different take on the beloved brothers and a perfect opportunity to introduce the storyline to a newer audience.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Are Taking Over Every Possible Format Of Storytelling
The world was introduced to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles many years ago and the franchise has grown exponentially in terms of content. Some stories are suitable for a much younger audience, while also catering to those who are more interested in darker stories.
The franchise has the best of both worlds and it is great to see Paramount Pictures finally realizing its potential.
Smith did an incredible job with his video games, and coupled with a big budget from a major studio like Paramount, there is a possibility this upcoming project could scratch the itch for fans who have been waiting for a decent TMNT live-action movie.
Paramount is risking dividing the attention of fans of the comic by adapting it into different formats, but it is safe to assume that both projects are a long way away from release. Are you excited for the game and movie? Let us know in the comments below!
