In an exclusive interview with ScreenGeek, the actress, who first portrayed the role of Jean Grey in X-Men (2000), conveyed her exasperation at being asked about her involvement in the Deadpool threequel to the point where she even began doubting herself.
“I’m not in [Deadpool & Wolverine]. No. Everybody keeps asking. So, at some point, I was like, ‘Wait, am I in Deadpool, and I just don’t know it yet?’ But, no. I’m not. No, no.”
In the 20-year-long existence of the X-Men films – despite its messy timeline and unnecessary digressions – Wolverine’s unrequited love for Jean Grey has always remained constant. In Hugh Jackman‘s own words, “There’s no doubt that the most important relationship in his life is his relationship with Jean Grey.” (MTV News, 2013)
But with this new chapter of the X-Men saga, and a little help from Deadpool, the past is about to change. The Jean Grey-Wolverine-Cyclops love triangle seems to have finally escaped the death grip of the slowest slow-burn romance of all time.

In this multiverse-hopping excursion led by Ryan Reynolds‘ katana-wielding superhero, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine returns one more time to fulfill a long-forgotten dream of his – to step foot within the world where he could fight shoulder-to-shoulder with the Avengers. Although that dream remains only halfway delivered, Deadpool’s multiversal X-Men siesta will serve a greater purpose by merging the boundaries between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the FoxVerse.
