During an episode of Overhaulin‘ in 2015, Johnny Depp played a prank on his then-wife, Amber Heard. Depp made the actress believe that her beloved 1968 Mustang had been stolen for the third time.
The situation got worse when Amber Heard noticed that the people she believed were law enforcement officials were not looking into the matter with the required seriousness. Chris Jacobs served as the host of the reality show, and he revealed the backstory behind the prank.
Amber Heard Got Pissed Off During The Prank
According to Jacobs, collaborating with Johnny Depp was a great experience for them because of the actor’s down-to-earth nature and his enthusiasm for the creative journey. Depp reached out to Heard’s father, David, to set up Amber Heard for the prank.
Chris Jacobs recalled that when they reached the scene, they pretended to be starstruck by Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. Chip Foose started taking pictures of Amber Heard, which irritated the actress even more.
Jacobs told ET:
“They come up and we act all star struck. Chip [Foose] is taking surreptitious pictures and Amber’s getting pissed off.”
Foose, the known custom car designer, led the charge to give Amber Heard’s car a makeover, turning it from a piece of junk into a striking cherry red car. During a sneak peek, Amber Heard shared that she bought it when it was functional, describing it as a valuable but forgotten asset. She also asserted that she invested every bit of her savings to acquire the car.
Amber Heard was left speechless by the unexpected turn of events. “I’m blown away! I’m speechless. I can’t believe all of this.“
Amber Heard Was Asked Not to Promote Aquaman 2
According to Variety, which referenced observations recorded by the actress’ therapist, some interesting details about her next film, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, have come to light. The report suggests that Jason Momoa arrived on the set drunk, dressed as Johnny Depp. Moreover, the report indicates that Jason Momoa wanted Heard out of the project.
Besides, the therapist’s records suggest that James Wan, the film’s director, was reportedly unsupportive of Amber Heard due to her legal battles. The notes suggest that Wan prevented her from sharing information about the movie.
Amber Heard said (via Variety):
“He raised his voice @ me — ‘I can’t even post about Aquaman’ — made it like it was my fault – I said ‘I’m sorry,'” say Hughes’ notes in reference to Wan. “Nobody could take selfies with me on set given blackout.”
Although Wan hasn’t responded to the allegations yet, a spokesperson from DC has come out in support of the director, saying he has continuously demonstrated an encouraging demeanor towards both his cast and crew. This remained constant throughout the shooting of the film.
