Brie Larson is one of the most versatile actresses in the entertainment industry. She has built an impressive career as a TV actress, then rising in films, to emerging as a recording artist.
Larson began drama studies at the age of 6, and she is the youngest ever student at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
The actress received widespread acclaim for her role as Joy “Ma” Newsome in the 2015 drama Room, which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
She was praised for starring in Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame (2019), where she portrayed Carol Danvers. But Larson disclosed her struggle with social anxiety after signing the contract with Marvel for her role in Captain Marvel.
Brie Larson’s Own Expectations with Her Physique Panicked Her
In an interview with Insider, Brie Larson discussed her evolving fitness journey and her training regimen for the Captain Marvel sequel.
The actress revealed that her efforts to achieve a superhero physique for her role as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe went beyond her own expectations. She told:
“I affectionately called myself ‘an introvert with asthma’ before I got to play Carol Danvers and I started training first out of sheer panic, because I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, Marvel doesn’t know that I don’t even know how to walk up a hill without being out of breath.”
So that’s the time when the Hollywood actress started this journey thinking she would get strong. But she had no idea that would go “far beyond” what she ever believed was possible for her body.
Brie Larson’s Intensive Training for Captain Marvel
Brie Larson was officially announced as Captain Marvel in July 2016 during Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con. She, like other MCU stars, underwent rigorous training in preparation for her lead debut as a superhero.
The Oscar-winning actress shared her fitness achievements on social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and her YouTube channel — which included pushing a nearly 5,000-pound Jeep (in which her trainer was inside the Jeep). She told (via Insider):
“Being able to hip thrust 400 pounds, deadlift 200 pounds, push my trainer’s Jeep, I mean, it’s an incredible experience to realize what’s inside of you is well beyond what you knew was possible. And I have Carol to thank for that.”
The Unicorn Store star explained that the character of Captain Marvel changed her life significantly. That is the reason why it doesn’t surprise her that the character has had a positive impact on others as well.
