Ubisoft is currently hard at work on multiple Assassin’s Creed titles. Two of them have already been confirmed; one is Codename Red, which is apparently set in Japan. The other more prominent one is Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, which is set in central Europe. It would supposedly be set during the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire.

It would entail a story that would be crossed over with the mass hysteria during which around 80,000 people were unjustly executed for the crime of witchcraft. There’s no hint as to what the game’s protagonist would look like or who that would be. Fans are guessing that it would probably be a witch. Now a leak suggests that this game would be a scary experience for anyone who dares to play it.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe would have horror elements to strengthen its theme

Ubisoft is pretty good at setting their game’s tone. They are also very good at designing incredibly detailed and accurate worlds. Hence, the excitement for Assassin’s Creed Hexe was pretty high from the get-go. Fans knew Ubisoft would at least serve them with a historically correct representation of that era.

Hence, it would not be a surprise if they did something similar with Assassin’s Creed Hexe too. After what they did with Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, fans are pretty hyped to see how they treat this subject. While the location and characters of the game would no doubt be to the point, one wonders how they would treat its gameplay.

As everyone knows, Ubisoft is currently juggling two different types of mainline Assassin’s Creed games. One is Assassin’s Creed Origins and Valhalla-like RPG style, while the other is straightforward old-timey stealth-based style, as seen in Mirage.

While it has not yet been confirmed what direction they would take with Assassin’s Creed Hexe, many think it would be an RPG. This would make sense in many ways, as it is being touted as a big-budget installment in the franchise, the next big game.

But what else would it bring to the table besides this hardcore RPG gameplay? Some suggest that it would also put players in situations akin to the scariest of horror games. A person who is supposedly in touch with some developers suggested that this game would not be for the faint-hearted.

“It’s a completely different game from the rest of the franchise, and if you get scared easily then never think about playing this game”

Without a doubt, Ubisoft is putting a lot of effort into making sure fans find this game appealing. And with such statements as above, they are definitely hinting at a new era for the Assassin’s Creed series.

One cannot help but wonder if this series would also enhance the gameplay mechanics somehow. Improving the parkour of the combat mechanics.

Let’s hope this stays exclusive to just one game, though

The fact that Assassin’s Creed Hexe would be a very unique game when compared to its other installments is exciting. But here’s hoping they keep all these ideas exclusive to only one game. It has been proven time and time again that Ubisoft tends to overuse its ideas until people get burned out with these games.

Hence, it would be best for both the fans of the series and the developer if Ubisoft kept changing this with each new installment. After all, no one wants to play the same game again and again after all.
