What’s the latest on Assassin’s Creed Mirage?

The leak states that microtransactions will again feature, which seems to be in stark contrast to the comments made by Ubisoft that the game would be a return to it’s ‘roots’. And we’re sure that many fans were happy with the fact that there seemed to be no need to part with more of their hard earned money over and above the purchase of the game.

But alas, it seems like that bubble has now been burst, although there is no official confirmation at this time. And with Ubisoft’s apparent decision to continue to use the Assassin’s Creed games as a service business model, it will no doubt serve to infuriate fans further and we have to ask, how long will fans put up with it?

And what might rub salt into the wounds of fans who already smarting from this, is that since microtransactions were introduced by Ubisoft back in 2017, the company have been rumoured to add $1Billion to it’s annual revenue.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was meant to be a ‘back to basics’ title, apparently not

Just let that sink in for a minute. $1Billion annually. Whatever happened to putting the fans first? Sadly another gaming company who is more content to suck the life and soul out of their fans and deliver nothing but empty promises. After stating that Assassin’s Creed Mirage would be like a tribute to the original Assassin’s Creed game you have to wonder it how long it will be before they backtrack on this, sheepishly announcing microtransactions to little or no fanfare.

Looking online the Dataminer who had posted the image up on Twitter of the paid content has seen it been removed, unsurprisingly. However the pack referred to as the ‘Fire Demon Pack’, was said to contain a flaming sword, a full set of armour and a chamfron mask for mounts. That sounds cool and all but is it actually worth the money you’d have to shell out for it?

And last month, Creative Director Stephane Boudon confirmed that Ubisoft wasn’t planning to offer any post-launch DLC or support for the upcoming title. However, pre-orders would contain an exclusive ‘Forty Thieves’ mission, along with some Prince of Persia inspired content which can be found in the Deluxe and Collector’s Case versions of the game.
