According to sources familiar with the project, the game will change things from the very foundation. It’s using an evolved version of the Anvil Pipeline engine. This move helps streamline development across multiple studios, ensuring players have a unified experience without sacrificing stunning visuals through features like ray-traced global illumination and virtual geometry.

One of the biggest changes to the franchise that players will see in Assassin’s Creed Red is its combat system. It’ll resemble the visceral combat of its predecessor, Valhalla, but with a lot more brutality.

Players can expect to experience intense battles with more gore, blood, and graphic decapitations.

Assassin’s Creed Red will also bring back the franchise’s emphasis on stealth and is said to resemble the Splinter Cell series. Players will be able to manipulate their environment to increase stealth advantages by extinguishing torches, hiding in foliage, and going prone.

Exclusive footage provided to Insider Gaming highlights how the settlement feature, introduced in Valhalla, has evolved to fit the Feudal Japan setting.

In Assassin’s Creed Red, players will have the opportunity to construct their hideout, a sprawling base of operations where they can customize buildings to suit their playstyle.

From an armory to a dojo, players can design and modify their hideout however they want to, such as by choosing building locations, modifying interior layouts, and even displaying their prized weapons and armor.

Assassin’s Creed Red Is What the Franchise Needs

With the introduction of these mechanics, it seems Ubisoft might finally be hearing players’ pleas to innovate the Assassin’s Creed franchise and create more of an immersive and dynamic experience.

Assassin’s Creed Red could be exactly what players need after the disappointment that was Valhalla, although Mirage did much better.

Addressing fan criticisms of recent entries, Mirage revived the original’s charm with a tighter, more engaging world.

The game’s plot was self-contained, and players got a sufficient look into Basim’s backstory. Tightening up on systems introduced in previous interactions, its RPG elements were much more streamlined.

One of the biggest reasons for Mirage‘s success and positive reception was how it rekindled the thrill of assassinations and discouraged head-on combat, which is what fans desperately wanted to see.
