“I wouldn’t know if that’s accurate,” adding “I know that I won’t be involved.”

The Jojo Rabbit star further explained that his prior engagements with other projects have made him come to that conclusion.

“I’m going to concentrate on these other films that I’ve signed on for.”

He further confirmed that his current slate of projects has affected his decision to be involved in the MCU movie as it would take him “six, seven years” to deliver what he has signed up for.

However, he won’t mind if Marvel Studios went ahead with the new Thor movie without him. In the same interview, he shared,

I would never feel like they are cheating on me,” the Reservation Dogs co-creator shared. “We’re in an open relationship, and it’s like if they want to see other people, I’m happy for that. I’d still get back into bed with them one day.”

The Oscar-winner further commented that he loves “working with” Marvel as well as the leading star Chris Hemsworth. Though his direction in Thor: Ragnarok was highly acclaimed due to its humor and visual style, the charm was unable to do the same wonders in Thor: Love and Thunder

Even fans couldn’t help but agree with the same which is why his involvement with Thor 5 didn’t surprise the fans. They expressed their opinions on X.

Check out the tweets below.

The 2022 MCU flick met with mixed critical response with many agreeing that the fourth sequel was unable to balance humor and storytelling, thus making it a bit too childish. This was further panned as many compared it to its predecessor which was way superior to Christian Bale’s movie. Many were not pleased when Waititi’s comic version went way over the line to unbalance the movie entirely.

These are some of the reasons why fans are skeptical about Thor 5 if he directs the movie. In any case, Thor’s future in the MCU still stands strong which is enough for Marvel to turn the tables to revive its sub-franchise just like what they did in Ragnarok.

Meanwhile, all Thor movies are available on Disney+.
