GTA 6 is the most anticipated game of the generation and will most likely be the most advanced and best-looking game of the current generation of gaming, Rockstar Games will utilize the latest version of the advanced game engine, but it will certainly require some heavy-duty maintenance, and work, which could indicate a potential delay.
It has been nearly a decade since Rockstar’s last entry to the Grand Theft Auto franchise, and by the time GTA 6 comes out, it will be seven years since their last game, Red Dead Redemption 2. While the Western was well received, fans are still eager to return to the world of crime in GTA and have waited long enough.
GTA 6 Could Be Facing A Delay
Recent reports from Bloomberg have shown that the shares of Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have suffered a significant dip in shares by 5.2%. Jason Schreier is confident that the game will eventually hit store shelves in the near future and believes all games are always behind schedule.
This week, Take-Two stock plummeted on rumors that Grand Theft Auto VI is behind schedule, which was a little silly. All video games are behind schedule https://t.co/S3IZwlkyRw

The company’s stock plummet is not that alarming, but a simple rumor of a delay was able to wreak that much havoc. Delays are inevitable in the process of game development, almost every game in the recent decade has gone through an unrealistic timetable and was able to deliver their game despite being delayed.
Fans can already expect more in-depth details and a new level of immersion for Rockstar’s biggest game yet and are hoping to see the studio reintegrate older game mechanics from their previous games in a more refined manner, like Red Dead Redemption 2 and the real-time hair growth system.
Games of the same ambitious magnitude as GTA 6 are vulnerable to delays because the team behind them does not want to deliver a half-baked game and suffer the repercussions that CD Projekt Red went through with Cyberpunk 2077.
Delays Are Not An Issue But A Blessing In Modern Game Development
The talent behind each project made by Rockstar Games has been exceptional, and each new game elevates the genre further. Amidst all the layoffs and changes within the gaming industry, Rockstar Games is adamant that its developers work on the upcoming project in-house five days a week, which could lead to a crunch.
The whole mandate seems like a nightmare, but it is all for the greater good. The company suffered a massive leak in September 2022, where loads of gameplay footage were shared on various social media platforms.
Rockstar Games is now putting a much larger emphasis on security and quality assurance right before the launch of GTA 6, which could be a possible reason for a delay.
Every developer wishes they could keep their promise whenever they announce or tease a game, GTA 6 has been in development for years now, and Rockstar felt comfortable enough to release a trailer late last year. Perhaps the game may be delayed, but it can be for the right reasons, maybe the developers can improve upon something that was already perfect.
