After the numerous allegations of s*xual abuse and assault filed against 86-year-old Bill Cosby, the former comedian faces financial problems that are reportedly affecting his family. With the holiday season just around the corner, everyone would be flying out to their hometowns to visit their beloved relatives, but Cosby’s family will just keep it simple this year.
Instead of the lavish traditional gatherings that they are used to do, the Cosby family will have an intimate get-together because they cannot afford to buy plane tickets for the rest of their clan members.
Bill Cosby Is Now Too Broke To Buy Plane Tickets For The Holidays
Christmas is looking a little sad for former actor Bill Cosby after he got drowned in money issues due to his civil lawsuits. A source told Radar Online that his family will keep the tradition alive despite the strain on their wallets. Cosby’s legal problems have become a nuisance that his family members would have to pay for their own airfares because he could not shoulder them.
“All the grandkids are coming, their daughters will be there, and Bill’s brother might be flying in. [They are] trying to keep it going.”
The insider also shared that Cosby and his wife, Camille, have been financially broke because they are dealing with the ex-Hollywood personality’s charges. Despite the tension and stress, the couple remains strong, as they are also preparing for their 60th wedding anniversary.
Cosby’s estimated net worth used to be around $400 million, but after getting hit with two tax liens almost amounting to $650,000 and paying $500,000 in damages to Judy Huth last year, money is becoming a headache for them. They were also forced to “liquidate their assets, take out second mortgages, and sell off their beloved artwork.”
The California civil jury found Huth was assaulted by Cosby at the Playboy Mansion in 1975 when she was only 16. Over 60 women accused the media personality of r*pe, drug-facilitated s*xual assault, s*xual battery, child s*xual abuse, s*xual misconduct, and s*xual harassment.
Bill Cosby’s Camp Remains Undeterred Amid Legal And Financial Issues
Bill Cosby’s publicist Andrew Wyatt shared with ABC News that the comedian denies all the allegations of assault.
“Mr. Cosby is a Citizen of these United States but these judges and lawmakers are consistently allowing these civil suits to flood their dockets – knowing that these women are not fighting for victims – but for their addiction to massive amounts of media attention and greed.”
He also remarked that they will no longer entertain these complaints and will only deal with them inside a courtroom before a judge:
“From this day forward, we will not continue to allow these women to parade various accounts of an alleged allegation against Mr. Cosby anymore without vetting them in the court of public opinion and inside of the courtroom.”
While Cosby is indeed in serious legal and financial trouble, he and his family would not let the circumstances affect their celebration of Christmas.
