During his teenage years, James McAvoy entertained thoughts of becoming a priest or joining the Navy. However, his path took an unforeseen twist when, at the tender age of 15, he landed a role in the 1995 film The Near Room. Despite this early foray into acting, the Split actor didn’t initially view it as a serious pursuit. Only when he found himself developing romantic feelings for one of his co-stars did his perspective on acting shift.

“I liked a girl on the set, Alana Brady, and I followed her to a drama group,” McAvoy told the Daily Star. “From that I got a tiny bit more work and realized I could make a career out of drama.”

Although his crush on Brady did not blossom into anything substantial, it inadvertently paved the way for James McAvoy to find his true calling. Acting became the path that would eventually catapult him to becoming one of the most sought-after actors globally.
