There’s no doubt that the cancellation of the Deus Ex title has left a gaping hole for many fans. As announced in January of this year, the Embracer Group decided to bin plans for a game which had been two years in development and to make matters worse, 90 employees were laid off which was seen as yet another blow to the gaming industry.
However, those still feeling at a loss to replace the cancelled title should look no further than the upcoming title from the Polish studio Critical Hit Games. Published by PLAION, the game is an interactive noir story which takes place in a dystopian version of New York City in the year 2329.
The cancellation of the upcoming Deus Ex game still pains fans
There are still many fans who are feeling put out by the news that the Embracer Group has decided not to progress the Deus Ex sequel. Despite two years of development, it was decided not to progress this and unfortunately, the studio’s fortunes have taken a significant downturn.
However, looking at the upcoming game from Critical Hit Games, fans may be quick to forget about the discontinued title. Nobody Wants to Die looks like being a more than adequate replacement for any Deus Ex sequel and the realistic cinema graphics are eye-watering, to say the least.
In a time where immortality is available at a cost, players must assume the role of Detective James Karra who takes an off-the-books case and with only the assistance of a young police liaison, must pursue a dangerous killer whilst uncovering dark secrets along the way.
Nobody Wants to Die is a game we should all be looking out for
Looking at the official reveal trailer, you can’t help but draw comparisons to a certain futuristic film featuring Harrison Ford and its subsequent 2020 sequel. The visuals and the vibe of the game just feel like Blade Runner and no doubt for many fans of the films, the anticipation of playing this game after seeing the trailer will be huge.
Whilst there may be no official date of release as yet for this title, it is scheduled to be this year and it should be on everyone’s watch list. Taking inspiration from various neo-noir films, the game has you investigating various crime scenes utilizing advanced technology and time manipulation to reveal clues and deduce who the killer is.
The plot alone for Nobody Wants to Die would be enough to appeal to many fans but when you factor in the stunning visuals and unique narrative experience, this promises to be an immersive experience for neo-noir fans and could be one to watch for this year!
