Mauga is a new character of Samoan descent coming to Overwatch 2 and was announced at Blizzcon 2023.

In the Overwatch 2 segment, art director Drion Rogers introduced a new character of Samoan descent known as Mauga. It is worth noting that the reception for Overwatch 2 has been overwhelmingly negative on platforms like Steam.

While the game still enjoys an active player base, it only takes one glance at the reviews to understand the majority’s sentiment around the game. And it isn’t positive. Announcements made at Blizzcon 2023 may or may not rejuvenate players’ interest in the game. It is primarily unlikely since the surge of negative reviews was due to monetization and the battle pass system.

The dissatisfaction was also caused by the Studio canceling a promised PvE mode in 2019. The lack of gameplay changes, apart from adding a couple of characters and maps, disappointed players in general.

Blizzard also revealed its plans for its titles like Hearthstone at Blizzcon 2023. For the online digital collectible card game, a new expansion titled Showdown in the Badlands was announced. The latest addition is set to be released on November 14, 2023.

Apart from the mentioned titles, Warcraft Rumble’s Executive Producer, Vik Saraf, revealed that the game is now available to download and play.

Now that Activision Blizzard’s deal with Microsoft has been rubber-stamped. It will be interesting to see the changes in approach made by the Studio. It will inevitably get more Blizzard titles to Xbox Game Pass in time.

If there are other changes, such as Blizzard’s titles following Starfield’s footsteps and being Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusives or not, can only be told with time.
