The most successful game that FromSoftware has ever created has just confirmed the price of its new content. Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, will launch in June and will bring a lot of new things to the experience of the title. With new weapons, spells, locations, and especially terrifying bosses, Shadow of the Erdtree has players very excited. Comparing this DLC cost with others from the same studio, FromSoftware has to work very hard to justify the price of this content.
The Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, Is More Expensive Than Other Expansions by FromSoftware
After many rumors and speculation, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware finally revealed the new gameplay of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This trailer shows a lot of new things that will come inside this long-awaited content. Players are very excited to play and defeat the new and near-impossible bosses. But after the release date was confirmed, all the editions with the DLC were included.
Shadow of the Erdtree will cost $39.99, the most expensive expansion ever in the history of FromSoftware.
Comparing its $39.99 cost with, for example, Bloodborne’s The Old Hunters DLC, which cost $19.99 in the beginning, definitely raises some questions. In other FromSoftware games, the DLC was included in the Game of the Year Edition of the game. According to the director of the game, Hidetaka Miyazaki, Shadow of the Erdtree is the largest DLC ever from the studio.
So, with that information in mind, this price could be justified, especially with the current cost of AAA games, and Elden Ring is available on more than four platforms.
The DLC Will Be Huge and Have Incredible Bosses
Hidetaka has spoken in several interviews about the scale of this DLC, which will bring a lot of answers to the lore. The director has confirmed more than 10 bosses, new weapons, areas, and spells that players will discover in this anticipated content. Miquella could finally appear, and the mysterious Messmer, The Impaler, may have a lot to do with this.
All will be revealed once the DLC is released.
It will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC on June 21. With a cost of $39.99, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware confirmed numerous versions of this content. A Collector’s Edition was confirmed with a statue of Messmer, the soundtrack, an art book, and the complete title with the DLC.
