Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has undoubtedly become the golden child of Hollywood, and this is quite evident by the film sweeping away any and all awards that it can. While the film absolutely deserves the recognition it is receiving, some celebrities, including Bradley Cooper, may feel a little frustrated after being constantly overlooked at the award ceremonies.
At the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, Bradley Cooper couldn’t quite mask his reaction to Cillian Murphy winning the award for Best Actor, no matter how hard he tried. Despite a smile on his face, his eyes told a completely different story, and it didn’t take long for the reaction to become a meme on social media. And now, it looks like the Bradley Cooper meme just got a 2.0 version at the SAG Awards 2024.
Cillian Murphy Wins Best Actor at the SAG Awards 2024
After winning a BAFTA and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer a.k.a. The Father of the Atomic Bomb, Cillian Murphy, has yet again emerged victorious as he recently received the title of Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. While this award marks Murphy’s first SAG win, Oppenheimer’s entire ensemble also took home the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
During his acceptance speech, Murphy stated (via People), “Oh my goodness. This is extremely, extremely special to me because it comes from you guys.” He went on to thank and praise his co-stars, calling them the “greatest group of actors” he has had the pleasure of working with. In the end, the Peaky Blinders actor gave a heartfelt conclusion to his speech, stating,
“Twenty-eight years ago, when I was trying to become an actor, I was a failed musician, and I felt extremely like an interloper. But now, looking out and all of you guys here today, I know that I’m part of something truly wonderful. So, thank you so much.”
Murphy’s performance in Oppenheimer’s lead role was absolutely groundbreaking. There is no denying that the actor deserves every bit of the recognition he is getting!
Bradley Cooper Becomes a Meme, Yet Again
Let’s rewind a little, all the way back to the 2024 Golden Globe Awards that took place last month, on the eighth of January. Murphy was up against Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Leonardo DiCaprio (Killers of the Flower Moon), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Barry Keoghan (Saltburn), and Andrew Scott (All of Us). And as we all know, Murphy took home the prestigious award out of the extremely talented lot.
When the camera panned to Cooper’s face, the actor looked visibly upset despite trying to mask his emotions behind a smile. Needless to say, it didn’t take long for Cooper’s reaction to become the center of attention on social media.

If you look at it from a neutral point of view, Cooper’s apparent frustration was quite valid as the actor has never won a Golden Globe, even though he was nominated six times. And now, the Cooper meme has returned thanks to the 2024 SAG Awards. When Murphy was announced the winner for his role in Oppenheimer, the camera once again turned to Cooper, almost as if it was done deliberately. The War Dogs actor’s subtle reaction once again became a meme on the Internet as fans point out that the actor looks “dead in the eyes.”
Bradley looks dead in the eyes 😭 that man is so tired.

The actor was once again nominated for playing American composer Leonard Bernstein in Maestro. Well, Cooper is also nominated for the 2024 Oscars for the same role, along with Murphy. Will the former finally manage to beat the latter at the most prestigious film award out there, or will the Internet get to add another reaction to its collection? We’ll just have to wait for March 10 to find out.
You can stream Oppenheimer and Maestro on Peacock Premium and Netflix, respectively.
