Fans have been relentlessly waiting for the third season of the hit Max show Euphoria starring Zendaya, who recently appeared in Denis Villeneuve-directed 2024 blockbuster Dune: Part Two. Zendaya’s on-screen mom in the show, however, faced real-time financial horror for the season 3 delay.

Nika King, who played the mother of Zendaya’s character, Rue Bennett, recently revealed that she had no money to pay rent. But amid that, the actor/comedian candidly revealed a piece of brutal advice from Taraji P. Henson.

Euphoria star Nika King revealed her financial hassle as HBO delayed its third season. Understandably, the show faced a devastating blow after the demise of Angus Cloud last July, but the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike had a massive impact on the show’s planned production schedule.

The delay would not even pinch Zendaya, at least, financially, but her on-screen mother, Leslie Bennett, had to endure the wrath of the delay in real-time as it came down to her struggle to pay rent for the past six months. Appearing in a recent stand-up comedy show at Los Angeles’s Hollywood Improv Lab, the actor/comedian revealed her real fiscal.

“Season three is coming out, I don’t f***ing know. Don’t ask me, I don’t know. I know, it’s one of those things. People are like, ‘We need season three’, and I’m like b****, I need season three. I haven’t paid my rent in six months,” King said in her gig (via The Independent).

HBO’s teen drama, Euphoria on Max starring Spider-Man: No Way Home actor Zendaya has been one of the most popular shows of recent times with 18 episodes so far spanning 2 seasons. HBO has officially renewed the third season, but it was delayed, and it is unlikely that the third season would land before 2025.

King also made a mild joke on Zendaya, who is busy promoting her recent film Dune: Part Two alongside her co-stars. “And Zendaya’s over in Paris for fashion week,” King referred to the 27-year-old (via The Independent). “I’m like, b**** come home! I need you. Momma needs you.” However, King got serious and reflected on her struggle with a deeper dive revealing a piece of brutal advice from Empire star Taraji P. Henson.

“Y’all laughing, and I’m serious. I haven’t booked nothing since Euphoria. This is some bulls***. I thought my career was on the rise after Euphoria. I thought I was good. It don’t work that way. I called Taraji [P Henson] and she was like b**** get used to it.”

The season 3 delay of the Max drama has been testing the patience of fans for a while. Euphoria star Colman Domingo recently gave a plausible reason for the delay, saying that the show’s creator Sam Levinson is in the writing and rewriting phase wrestling with the filtration process of the essence of the narrative.

The first two seasons of Euphoria are available to stream on Max.
