The highly anticipated Marvel film Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to feature a number of cameos, and recent updates have revealed that one of the many could also be Chris Hemsworth making his next appearance as Thor after Love and Thunder.
The film recently revealed a nine-minute footage at the Cinema Con, featuring Thor alongside Deadpool. Hemsworth addressed the footage and his brief appearance in the film in a recent interview while revealing that it isn’t quite what fans anticipate.
Chris Hemsworth Addresses His Unexpected Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo
In a recent screening at Cinema Con, Deadpool & Wolverine revealed a brief footage revealing how Wade Wilson gets involved with the TVA and seeks Wolverine to help save the Sacred Timeline. The footage also features a brief cameo from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.
One of the shots from the footage features a brief clip from the 2013 film Thor: The Dark World, where Loki dies in his brother’s arms. However, in archival footage from the Thor sequel, Loki has been replaced by Deadpool dying in Thor’s arms.
While addressing his surprise appearance in the movie, Hemsworth expressed excitement about being part of the highly anticipated film. “It’s really cool,” he told Comicbook.com in an interview before adding, “You kind of forget and be like, ‘Oh, cool! I’m part of the team. They’re talking about me!'”
However, he also clarified that although Thor is in the movie, he is not exclusively reprising his role alongside Ryan Reynolds for the film. “But, I’m not in it,” he said, revealing that he did not know about the unexpected Thor cameo in the upcoming film.
Hemsworth also expressed his enthusiasm about being part of the extensive cinematic universe and interconnected stories in the franchise. “I mean, that whole world is really cool to be a part of, and any time each other… I think it’s what makes it all really cool is the interconnected nature of it,” he said.
While the studio has not confirmed anything regarding Thor’s next appearance in the franchise, the superhero is expected to return in the potential fifth installment of the Thor film series and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Chris Hemsworth Expected to Return in Thor 5
Following his last appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, the film that not only left the audience cringing at the quirky approach toward the God of Thunder but the actor himself, Chris Hemsworth is expected to reprise his role in Thor 5.
Numerous rumors surrounding the film suggest that Zeus or Hercules could potentially be the main villain of the next installment, which is believed to be released ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars.
Among several rumors, the director of Thor: Ragnarok and Love and Thunder, Taika Waititi, has also addressed Thor 5, revealing that he won’t be involved with the movie. “I wouldn’t know if that’s accurate,” he said, addressing the rumors surrounding his involvement with the potential film.
“I know that I won’t be involved… I’m going to concentrate on these other films that I’ve signed on for,” he further told Business Insider. While the studio has not said anything regarding a fifth installment, it is expected to be Hemsworth’s one of the final MCU appearances before Secret Wars.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to release on July 26, 2024.
