Being associated with Calvin Harris caused trouble for Rita Ora
Rita Ora‘s relationship with Calvin Harris isn’t a secret for fans. The musical couple dated for nearly one year before parting ways in June 2014. Their relationship ended on a very vague note, as it didn’t seem mutual at all. During their relationship, the couple had a good time as they both helped each other nurture their careers.
Scottish DJ, Calvin Harris assisted Ora with her hit song I Will Never Let You Down while they were together. Harris not only composed the lyrics of the song for Ora, but he also produced it. Since Harris is the writer and producer of the song, he has rights to it.
Later, when Ora had to perform the song at the Teen Choice Awards, she was obliged to get legal permission from her then-boyfriend to do so. But Harris didn’t approve her request, and hence, Ora couldn’t perform at the event. During her appearance on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, the 32-year-old singer shared,
“He has to approve anything TV-wise for anybody who doesn’t get it. And obviously, he owns the rights to it and he didn’t approve the Teen Choice Awards.”
Later, it was revealed by Harris that he deliberately did so. The music artist took to Twitter and admitted that he had a “d**n good reason” stopping her from performing his song. However, later, the EDM star deleted that tweet.
Calvin Harris’ relationship timeline with Rita Ora
Calvin Harris and Rita Ora began dating in May 2013. Unfortunately, the bond was not meant to last, as they parted ways just after dating for a year. According to the sources, the brief relationship between Harris and Ora came to an end because Harris wanted more privacy.
However, the news about their breakup came as a surprise to Ora, as she wasn’t involved in the decision to split. The singer got to know about the fate of her relationship with Harris when he publicly announced on Twitter,
“To address speculation — myself and Rita ended our relationship some time ago. She is a beautiful, talented woman & I wish her all the best.”
However, years after their breakup, Ora said in an interview that she holds no bad blood for her ex and that they are on good terms even after their separation.
Rita Ora is currently married to New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi. And Calvin Harris is linked to British radio presenter Vick Hope.
