New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi’s name is no stranger to moviegoers. His filmmaking style is unique- often lightening serious emotion with subtle comedic humor leaving enough room for the audience to digest the gravity of the movie. Waititi’s directorial resume has some very remarkable movies including his early success, Boy and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Further,  he co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in the horror comedy film What We Do in the Shadows in 2014 with Jemaine Clement which made him even more popular. However, directing MCU’s Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder and his 2019 black comedy film Jojo Rabbit widened his Hollywood recognition. He also starred in Jojo Rabbit playing an imaginary version of Adolf Hitler.

In February 2012, Ora gained prominence after featuring on DJ Fresh’s single, Hot Right Now.  She made her debut with her studio album Ora released in August 2012. According to the singer’s  2022 Valentine’s Day post on Instagram Rita Ora and Taika Waititi met in 2018. “Us. 4 years ago. To now,” she wrote in the caption. Following an Instagram post on April 21, 2021, by the singer sparked a dating romance. In the post a photo of her and Waititi hugging shows an intense moment between the couple which was further enhanced by the caption. “Good times, memories, random things on my phone and the ones I love..,” she wrote.

The same year, at The Suicide Squad premiere in Los Angeles the couple made their red carpet debut. On August 18, 2021, Ora celebrated Waititi’s 46th birthday by sharing photos on her Instagram. The star-studded celebration also included Ashley Benson, Rami Malek, Jodie Turner-Smith, Charli XCX, Paris Jackson, and Kristen Stewart. Next month, the duo attended the Met Gala together. Later, the couple attended many events, including a Rolling Stones concert, the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards, and Walpole British Luxury Awards.

On January 10, 2022, the couple appeared on The Tonight Show. On the eve of Valentine’s Day in 2022, the director shared a series of snaps on his Instagram celebrating his love for the singer.

After a series of events and public appearances, the rumors of the couple getting married sparked after social media shots of the couple by the Daily Mail. In the photos, the couple has gold wedding bands on their fingers. Later, E! News reported that the couple got married shortly after the rumor.

Appearing on the Greatest Night Ever podcast, Ora said that Waititi is a “lovely” person. “I’ve always wanted the fairytale, that’s what I grew up loving,” Ora said. “For me, it was always about that love, finding a partner, so I’m really happy I did,” she added.

Later, on January 27, 2023, Ora confirms she and Waititi got married.

As per reports, the marriage ceremony of the couple was planned in just 48 hours in the presence of Ora’s two stepdaughters and her sister Elena.

“Some women like to feel that real special attention that day. And everyone’s different. And for me – I think with my job, it is all… it’s very attention driven – I wanted to keep it private because my life and my career aren’t,” she told Glamour magazine.

“It was either then or we had to wait for ages. I didn’t want to do it without my stepkids there. So, we just figured it out and we did it. And it was perfect.”

“My sister was there, which was amazing for me. And he had his girls there, which was amazing for him. It was a dream. My parents were on Zoom.”

Earlier, in February, Ora appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon where she showed her wedding ring.

“I haven’t actually shown anyone my ring. It’s my first time showing my ring, and because I love you and I feel like you’re a part of our relationship, weirdly, because we watch you every night … look here it is,” she told Fallon.

The singer also revealed that she helped Waititi to pick the giant emerald wedding ring.  “So, I may have taken him to the shop and pointed out exactly what ring I wanted,” she said.

Later, appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Ora also revealed that Waititi made the first move in the relationship and she said yes.
