While all the GTA VI memes float around, gamers seem to forget that there also exists Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a game that has been patiently waiting for its successor, a title that has been confirmed but is yet to receive an official release date from the studio.
It also seems to be true that Bethesda used up all of its luck while launching Skyrim. Despite there being not much post-release support provided for the title after its launch in 2011, it performed splendidly well within the industry, effectively managing to become an icon of a game, as time went on.
Todd Howard Seems To Have Everything Planned Out For The Release Of Elder Scrolls VI
The much-anticipated sequel, which is doomed to not release before 2026, was first teased in the E3 games showcase back in 2018. With a time period spanning over 15 years, Todd Howard, the lead game director at Bethesda, seems to have learned from the mistakes made in the past and is now prepared for everything.
Featuring in an interview via MrPattyPlays, a famous YouTuber, Howard stated the following talking about his plan for Skyrim’s successor’s release-
It it goes further than that in you know the type of game what it means for your character what it means for other things to say “hey can this be something that you you come back to” and so we see that with Skyrim what people do in the game today and I’m you know even though it’s popular what are people doing when they when they come back to the game after you know putting it down for a few years
Not providing post-release support for one of the most dire mistakes the studio could have ever made. However, as stated before, it all worked out in their favor as fans loved the game regardless, allowing it to survive even years after its release due to it being ahead of its time.
When Is The Video Game Directing Veteran Finally Planning To Retire?
With gamers around the globe stepping in to experience the Fallout video game series once again due to its live-action adaptation, Bethesda seems to have things going great for itself right now. This, along with the Shattered Space DLC for Starfield scheduled to release soon, fails to deliver Todd Howard an incentive to retire anytime soon, especially with the big release of Elder Scroll VI still being on hold.
Talking about how Shigeru Miyamoto, the 71-year-old creator of Super Mario still works to this day, Howard said “He’s still doing it“, citing the Nintendo Legend as the reason why he still reports to work each day, striving to deliver the best experience he could to his fans.
