Hugh Jackman is embarking on an extreme body transformation to reprise his iconic role as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool 3. But despite bulking up with an intense 8000-calorie-per-day routine, fans were quick to notice one muscular shortcoming on the 55-year-old star – his legs.
Do Fans Have a Point About Hugh Jackman’s Leg Routine?
Hugh Jackman recently took to Instagram to showcase his progress, flexing his bulging biceps after what he joked was a “no days off” upper body pump. And while the actor’s vascular arms and shoulders impressed many followers, the comment section flooded with jabs at Jackman’s comparatively scrawny legs.

“Leg day is a thing…. right?” one fan questioned, while another bluntly stated “We all are commenting about the straws hanging from your shorts. Yes, I am referring to your legs.” Here are a few more comments from fans:
“Leg day???”
“Please do squats!!”
“We all are Commenting about the straws hanging from your shorts. Yes, I am referring to your legs.”
“Leg day is a thing…. right? Or CGI will fix that?”
Jackman’s leg regimen has clearly taken a backseat during his transformation prep, leading to the imbalanced physique that sparked fan scrutiny. While getting his famous metal claws in shape to reprise the X-Men hero after nearly a decade away, Jackman has seemingly neglected to match his lower half to an intensely trained upper body.
With the camera zoomed in on his popping biceps and back, Jackman’s legs do appear almost comically small in comparison to his jacked top half. “This LEGEND is 55 years old and people have the audacity to tell Wolverine to work out more his legs?” one follower cheekily put it in defense of the star.
What’s Hugh Jackman’s Training Plan to Return as Wolverine?
As per Daily Star, According to Jackman, his prep to return onscreen as the adamantium-clawed mutant spans an intensive 6-month strength and conditioning overhaul. And while legs may not be his biggest focus, the Aussie actor sticks to a no-days-off plan packing on muscle through a routine tailor-made for his Wolverine comeback.
“I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time,” Jackman explained of his workout regimen. “So, we have six months from when I finish [Broadway’s The Music Man] to when I started filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.”
Along with lifting heavy at the gym up to twice a day, Jackman is also packing away a staggering 8000 calories into his diet. The extreme caloric intake helps fuel his hardcore lifting sessions focused on rebuilding the heroic physique fans first fell in love with over 20 years ago.
And despite the online leg day roasting, Jackman seems confident he’ll be in prime Wolverine form when Deadpool 3 hits theaters next summer. Back on his grind to portray the clawed mutant that made him an overnight star, Jackman won’t let a little fan trolling slow down his mission to make his mighty comeback.
