Chance Perdomo, the 27-years-young Hollywood heartthrob who won the hearts of many through his exceptional performance in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, was announced to have lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, 30th March 2024 (via Variety). His last show before his untimely death was Gen V, The Boys spin-off that would soon be getting its second season.
However, a mere six months before his death, Perdomo was under a lot of controversy over his life’s choices, specifically those that were related to his social media activity. In fact, this is even said to have affected his connection to The Boys spin-off series, considering how he was cut off from the show’s promo following his online cancelation despite being one of the lead actors in it.
Was Chance Perdomo Under Controversy Because of his Social Media Activity?
Unfortunately, as it turns out, yes. Six months ago, back in October 2023, the late actor found himself being targeted online for his alleged “misogynistic, transphobic, racist incel” beliefs that a Redditor u/summercloudsadness pointed out through a series of screenshots which showed all the people who came in this category that he followed.
As can be seen in the screenshots shared, the After We Fell actor followed a lot of handles and liked quite a few posts on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) that netizens found to be controversial. One of these even linked him to Andrew Tate, whom a considerable part of the internet prefers to widely hail as being a “misogynist”.
While the tweet of Tate that Chance Perdomo liked didn’t hold anything controversial but were some mere motivational words with the “work hard to become rich” motto, the sheer fact that it was a tweet from Tate still landed Perdomo in trouble. Adding to this were the seemingly misogynist tweets and posts that he liked via his social media handle.
These included posts that inevitably summarized down on the point that women need to be focused on raising a family instead of trying to be independent. Then there were all the society-deemed controversial handles that he followed, which included @alphaomegaandsigma, @trad.masculinity, @masculinemindset_, @redpillhub, @unwokeism, and @rightwingsavages, among others.
Further adding fuel to this fire were the tweets he liked in favor of Johnny Depp, who unfortunately became one of the vexed stars in Hollywood in the eyes of many feminists following his messy divorce from ex-wife Amber Heard. In fact, the Redditor even alleged Perdomo of having showcased his anti-vaccine stance by liking a post that pointed at the same.
Thus, even though all of these were his personal choices and opinions, the late actor was still inevitably canceled by a considerable part of the internet society. Making matters worse, this even led to him getting removed from his show Gen V‘s promo video despite being one of the lead actors and characters in the spin-off series.
Chance Perdomo was Cropped Out from the Gen V Promo Video Because of This
Presumably because of this series of unfortunate and controversial turn of events, the official handle of The Boys‘ spin-off series @genv on X cut out Perdomo from the new promo video of the superhit series as well, which was released back in October 2023. This was noticeable because the old clip had him seated next to Lizze Broadway, while the new one didn’t.
Here’s the old clip:

And here’s the new one:
But who's most likely to leave us in shambles AGAIN tonight… pic.twitter.com/8b7BlXXFCU

As noticeable as it is, the late actor, who played the lead role of Andre Anderson in the superhit series, was unarguably cut out from the promo. Since this second promo was released around the time that this controversy erupted, it is only likely they did it to make him lay low because of the backlash that Perdomo was receiving at the time.
In fact, these twisted matters of controversy went so far that the deceased actor was even under speculation of being replaced just because the online community did not find the opinions he personally felt to be acceptable (via The Direct). But now that he has left this world, neither this question nor this controversy matters anymore.
As for the second season of Gen V, Deadline reports that it has been “delayed indefinitely” in light of the young perfectionist’s passing, with no official confirmation as to what would happen to Perdomo’s character in the saga, as of this writing.
You can stream Gen V season one on Prime Video.
