The Gears of War franchise is one of the most successful in the history of Xbox. This game has sold more than 40 million units worldwide. The main entries in this universe are the best exclusives for Xbox consoles.
The original creator of Gears of War was Cliff Bleszinski, also known as Cliffy B. This developer is very popular in X and has some things to say about the last couple of Gears of War games. Cliffy B thinks that players are saying that Gears is “woke” because of the change in the protagonist.
Cliff B is angry with some “fans” of Gears of War, one of the most important franchises on Xbox
One of the most iconic IPs of Xbox is, without a doubt, Gears of War. This franchise is very popular among players and users of the console. The main series of games without the spin-off already has five entries, and a studio was found to make more games of Gears of War; the studio is called The Coalition.
This studio was in charge of Gears 4 and 5, just right after Cliffy B parted ways with Microsoft. The developer attempted to make new games, but he never could make a new hit like Gears of War.
Pisses me off that people say Gears went "wOkE".
These culture wars are out of control. If Gears 3 came out today they'd say the same thing about it – the cast was diverse AF and we had strong non-sexualized female soldiers.

In the post from Cliffy B on X, he describes his anger with some players accusing Gears of going “woke.” This is related to how Gears 4 and 5 introduce a new female protagonist. But both Gears 4 and 5 are some best-rated games in the franchise. Both with more than an 80 overall score. Players replied to this with some different opinions, mostly agreeing with Cliffy B about some players being very sensitive to some changes.
Diverse doesn’t mean “woke”
The players continue talking with Cliffy B about what diverse means and how it is not “woke,” just good character writing. This popular developer is not working on any gaming projects right now; he writes comics and has some restaurants.
But after several failed attempts at making a new great game, Cliffy B made some distance with the game industry and a possible project that he had. Hi is a regular and avid user of X.
The Gears of War franchise is working on the sixth entry in the main saga of games. Gears 5 has a real cliffhanger ending, and players are waiting to have a conclusion about these new characters, the generation after Marcus Fenix and company. Microsoft did not reveal anything about a new game in this universe.
