It is no shock that Alan Wake has a huge following, given the massive success of the latest addition to the franchise, Alan Wake 2, which was released late last year. Remedy’s Alan Wake 2, although it didn’t do the sales they may have liked, still managed to bring in a few trophies at The Game Awards.

With the success of the franchise and the rather large fan base, it is no wonder that in 2022, the powerhouse of television, AMC, bought the rights for Alan Wake to make a television adaptation of the game, but there has been no further development since then.

Alan Wake is a 2010 action-adventure game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Game Studios, which was later remastered and released in 2021. This game is set around a best-selling crime thriller novel, Alan Wake, about a man haunted by his wife’s mysterious disappearance while on holiday in a small fictional American town called Bright Falls. On his travels, he relives events from his latest novel that he can’t remember writing.

Alan Wake is full of plot twists as you travel through areas of Bright Falls. While you traverse through these areas at various times of the day in the nighttime sequences, you will fight against murderous enemies called the Taken, which are citizens, animals, or even objects from Bright Falls being taken over by an entity known as the darkness. These Taken attack Alan Wake, who has to defend himself with various weapons at his disposal.

With these enemies, they are protected by a shield of darkness, making them initially invulnerable They can be injured by firearms when exposed to light. With all the elements to this game, turning this epic game into a television horror show could draw in fans from all over, not only gamers but horror fans alike. With the lack of any updates from AMC, will it happen?

Imagine the fantastic scenes Netflix could make with a Gears of War adaptation!

Another of the television industry that has a mass following is Netflix In November 2022, they announced the Gears of War television adaptation of the award-winning game loved by many across the world With the following this game has, it should be a no-brainer that someone would turn it into a television series, but fans left, wanting and hoping for an update on what could be a fantastic action series.

Gears of War is set on an Earth-like planet, Sera, where the planet has been at war for years. Just as the two factions agree to an armistice, a subterranean alien species lands, and within the first 26 hours of being on the planet, they wipe out 25% of the human population. As you play through the game, you will slay your way through the enemies known as the locust horde. There are so many different avenues Netflix could go down to make a fantastic television adaptation of Gears of War, and yet we’ve been waiting years.

Whilst AMC announced plans for an Alan Wake tv adaptation back in 2022, we’ve heard nothing since, and just like the long-muted Gears of War adaptation, this spells trouble.

I'm a father first, gamer second, but I do love gaming. I own multiple consoles and if I have a second, one of them is switched on. Between Marvel, Spurs and gaming I'm a stereotypical nerd.
