Since James Gunn and Peter Safran have been announced as the new DC Studio heads, the duo has changed many things at the DC studio. One of the biggest shocks was when Henry Cavill was replaced as Superman.
As the studio is making many big decisions about DC’s future many actors are concerned about if they are in or out. Recently there is a wave of good news for Xolo Maridueña fans, as James Gunn has Tweeted in favor of the 22-year-old actor’s DC future.
James Gunn Stated that Blue Beetle Will be Part of the New DC
James Gunn recently penned down on his Twitter account an update for all the DC fans. In the Tweet, the filmmaker and now the DC head mentioned which characters will be a part of the new DC universe in the future. For Xolo Maridueña this is like a relieving moment as the 56-year-old director confirmed that the character of Blue Beetle is also a part of his plan. The Guardians of the Galaxy director’s Tweet reads,
“Yes. Blue Beetle (played by the wonderful @xolo_mariduena) & a handful of other characters will continue on in the DCU, even though the first DC Studios movie is Superman: Legacy (the first DC Studios project is the animated TV show Creature Commandos).”
The action-adventure movie Blue Beetle will be arriving in the theatres on 18 August 2023. Maridueña will be seen portraying the character of Blue Beetle. The movie is directed by Angel Manuel Soto.
Xolo Maridueña Says His Movie Blue Beetle is for Everybody
During an interview, the 22-year-old actor was asked about how people will be able to relate to his character in the upcoming movie. The Coba Kai actor explained what makes his movie Blue Beetle a movie for everybody. While talking about his movie, the actor said,
“ I am like everybody. Xolo is like everybody. I’m as special as all of you. I’m no less than everybody. My culture is not a buzzword. We exist and we co-exist. Being able to integrate those things that make us special adds flavor. It’s like laughter. People laugh differently, yet it’s still laughter. We grieve differently, we cry and we deal with loss differently, but it’s still a loss.
He further added,
It’s always nice to see something that we’re used to seeing with other superheroes that we love and we cherish, but we see it our way and we invite the audience to not feel repelled by it.”
The Parenthood star also discussed what makes the action-adventure film’s cast so unique. Maridueña explained that the cast is amazing and the storyline is authentic. Additionally, he said, three generations will have different stories to tell.
