The film is credited with reviving the genre.
In 2023, Costner won his third Golden Globe, his second for acting, for Yellowstone. In the show, Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill successfully seduces a woman pretending to be Kevin Costner and gets caught the next morning after she realizes that he is not the Yellowstone star. The story is also mentioned in Better Call Saul’s original show Breaking Bad, in which Odenkirk first made his appearance as Saul Goodman.
The tweet was a tongue-in-cheek reference to one of the funniest moments in the show. It is also a play on Odenkirk’s physical similarity to Kevin Costner. Better Call Saul also lost the Best Television Series – Drama category to the HBO show House of the Dragon.

Bob Odenkirk starred in the Breaking Bad spinoff show Better Call Saul for six seasons. The show was created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould and was acclaimed throughout its run on AMC. The show has often been considered to be a worthy successor to the original crime drama and many have even placed it above the Bryan Cranston-starrer.
While Bob Odenkirk’s performance as Jimmy McGill a.k.a Saul Goodman has been acclaimed by critics and fans alike, he never won an Emmy or a Golden Globe during his entire six-season run. According to Den of Geek, the show itself had received a whopping 53 nominations at the Emmys and never won any award.

On the contrary, the show’s predecessor Breaking Bad had won 16 Emmys and 2 Golden Globes. It even won lead actor Bryan Cranston one Golden Globe and four Emmy Awards as Outstanding Lead Actor in a TV Series – Drama. The extensive wins for the predecessor are speculated to have hampered the victories of the spinoff show.
Better Call Saul also faced stiff competition from other well-written and performed dramas of the decade including House of the Dragon, Yellowstone, and Succession. The show lost the Golden Globe to House of the Dragon in 2022 and lost the Emmys to its predecessor Game of Thrones twice before. It also lost the award for shows such as Succession and The Handmaid’s Tale.
