According to Variety, the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has surpassed the previous record for the most views on a non-music video on YouTube held by Mr. Beast’s Every Country On Earth Fights for $250,000, which was uploaded on August 19, 2023. Leo Olebe, head of YouTube Gaming globally, stated.
“The Grand Theft Auto series has been at the epicenter of entertainment for decades and we expect the YouTube community and its creators to reach new heights for years to come with Grand Theft Auto VI. Setting this new all-time record is a testament to the cultural impact of the series and demonstrates why YouTube is the leading destination for gaming content and pop culture.”
It also surpassed the 2011 Grand Theft Auto V reveal trailer, according to VGC News, with 101 million lifetime views in just two days. In February 2022, Rockstar officially declared that the game was under development, capping years of conjecture. The trailer featured Tom Petty’s Love Is a Long Road.
The game is slated for release in 2025 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
