There are only a few studios that come close to redefining genres and setting benchmarks for the video game industry. Rockstar Games has been confirmed to be working on GTA 6 ever since they made the admission in 2022. Now, GTA 6 first trailer is confirmed to be coming in early December. But as per unconfirmed reports, speculations as well as Rockstar’s trend of scheduling game release after reveal trailers. The game is most likely expected to arrive in late 2024 or 2025.

The last GTA game came out in 2013. And Rockstar’s last new entry, Red Dead Redemption 2 came out in 2018 for consoles. All this means that the studio might have plans to release a game so as to keep gamers occupied till GTA 6 releases. There are rumors that the Studio may be working to produce a sequel to the Cult Classic title Bully. This was revealed in the latest earnings call Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO suggested that the studio might be looking to revisit its IPs from the past.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive hinted at something that has been requested by fans for a very long time.

Some franchises that haven’t seen an entry since the last decade were referenced by Zelnick. This may suggest that the Studio might be working on the sequels of these titles. L.A. Noire, Midnight Club, and Max Payne are IPs that were clearly mentioned in the presentation. These three franchises currently belong to Rockstar but were added to their garage of titles after acquisition from other studios.

Both of these games have had a significant impact on Rockstar’s pedigree of creating games that present value to the user. Creating experiences that stay even months and years after completing playthroughs is something Rockstar is a master at. They showed their hold on the craft very well by presenting one of the best detective adventures and one of the most unique and dark third-person shooters of all time.

Fans have been expressing their desire to see the two games L.A. Noire and Max Payne receiving sequels. But nothing as such had been revealed by Rockstar. The only thing churned out by the studio was the remaster for L..A. Noire. Speaking for Max Payne, the third entry in the franchise saw the game almost hinting at the end of the line for Max. It didn’t completely rule out his return. Fans would still be amped in case either Cole Phelps or Max Payne were to make a comeback.

Could Rockstar Possibly Juggle Developing All These Titles at Once?

We know that the GTA games are incredibly detailed and require a ton of capital, effort, and time. Titles in the franchise have always managed to up the ante and make for a genre-breaching addition. It is highly It is highly likely that Rockstar Games was possibly developing GTA 6 ever since they dished out Red Dead Redemption 2.

Since the effort is clearly visible from the leaks which took place in 2022. It seems highly unlikely that Rockstar would let their focus waiver from their marquee release by dividing their workforce to work on the titles that it mentioned above. While all the hype and excitement are very positive and are undoubtedly called for.

After all, it is not every day that classic titles that have been remembered but not avidly mentioned are directly referenced by Rockstar or any other studio for that matter. All of this may just have been Rockstar’s way of acknowledging their past success and paying tribute to these iconic franchises. One cannot possibly rule out the possibility that something may be cooking.
