Well, although people had high hopes for the Dakota Johnson-Valentine release this year, Madame Web has been all over the place. From sloppy marketing to confusing script with dialogue disasters, the film’s journey has been anything but smooth. With a dismal 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s safe to say Madame Web missed the mark.
But hold on, Johnson isn’t alone here! Turns out, the writers are in a bit of a pickle, churning out one dud after another. That’s why @CultureCrave on X cooked up a spicy list, showcasing the Rotten Tomato scores from the writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless’ previous ventures. And it does not look good on them.
1. Vin Diesel
Dakota Johnson and her crew aren’t the only ones suffering from shoddy scriptwriting. Vin Diesel and his 2015 flick, The Last Witch Hunter, also take a beating. With an approval rating of just 18% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s safe to say this film missed the mark by a long shot. From its sluggish pace and lackluster direction to its convoluted plot and painfully awful dialogue, everything seems to work against it.
2. Jared Leto
When it comes to explaining just how bad Morbius was, mere words seem insufficient to convey the depths of its disappointment. And all thanks to the writer duo responsible for crafting the script for leaving their mark, and not in a good way. Sitting at 15% on Rotten Tomatoes, the Jared Leto movie lacks the fundamental pillars of storytelling, stumbling through a narrative that feels disjointed and lacking cohesion. As viewers, fans are left with frustration and a big fat nothing burger.

3. Luke Evans
Turning to Dracula Untold, while it didn’t quite induce the same level of pain as some cinematic disasters in the list, it still was a failure. Despite carving out a niche among certain fans, the Luke Evans film still fell short of expectations. The duo’s other Dracula endeavor, which, with a modest 25% on Rotten Tomatoes, might just be the highest-rated film on their list. However, even with this somewhat “respectable” score, the film doesn’t escape criticism. The dialogue remains stiff, and the script maintains its trademark shoddiness.
4. Gerard Butler
And last and definitely the least, we have Gods of Egypt which just might take the crown for being the worst of the bunch. With a dismal 14% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s not just bad, it’s downright atrocious. So bad that the film doesn’t even fall into the category of “so bad it’s good.” Blame it on the trademark of Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the plot of Gods of Egypt is an incomprehensible mess. While actors like Gerard Butler can hardly be faulted, they’re burdened with delivering terrible dialogue. It was one wild ride, that’s for sure.
