Dave Bautista has built his resume with astounding prowess after joining Hollywood after coming from WWE. His MCU tenure has elevated the actor to further fame and glory and has also created a friendship with now DC boss James Gunn, who directed MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
After Gunn’s hit MCU franchise ended, he joined DC Universe as the studio boss with Peter Safran. With his new DC revamp, Gunn previously stated that he has a keen interest in bringing Bautista to his DCU for a suitable role. Bautista is also open to playing a DC character, particularly Bane.

Dave Bautista recently shared a fan concept art of Bane on his Instagram story, and it has gone wild among fans. Tom Hardy, who played the character previously in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, received mostly positive responses from fans. Also, Hardy’s justice to the character was commendable. However, fans have related the transition of the wrestler-turned-actor to Bane, which might be the perfect actor to play the character.
Of course, Bautista fits well with his physical appeal matching the character’s trait. As for former WWE world champion, he would work for James Gunn again in a heartbeat. The Drax the Destroyer fame expressed his depth of friendship while speaking with ComicBook.
“I would love to work with James again, whether it’s DC Universe or not. I just love James Gunn. He’s an incredible director and we have a camaraderie that’s priceless. So to work with him again? I mean, I’d do it for free. But, we just haven’t had the conversations. He’s on top of DC now. He’s doing his thing. I’m trying to grind along in my processing. But, I’m always open-minded too and I’ve expressed that to him.”
Bautista’s faith in Gunn will not evaporate, as his Guardians of the Galaxy character changed his life, and the actor is forever grateful for that. As Andrés Muschietti is confirmed to direct the Batman flick Brave and the Bold under Gunn’s DCU, Bautista might likely end up playing Bane sometime soon.

Fans are even comparing Hardy’s Bane with the potential role, leaning towards Bautista. Also, Gunn might just book Bautista, as he reflected on his friendship with the actor in a recent post on Threads. “I’m enjoying every minute of making Superman – such a wonderful team around me – but boy I also miss my Guardians pals like Dave,” the DC boss wrote. This could be an indicator that the 55-year-old is getting a DC role soon, and what better role than Bane? So, the likelihood of Bautista as Bane is on the card, and it would be interesting to see his DCU run after his MCU tenure.
