Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric multiplayer game. The game’s format shows one Killer, and the other four players are Survivors. Despite the game being first released in 2016 for PC and then later for consoles, it still enjoys a considerable player base seven years later.
When the game was initially released, it contained a unique lineup of Survivors and Killers. They were observed to be inspired by characters from vintage thriller and horror cinema. Since its launch, many iconic characters fans know and love have been featured in the game.
This includes the likes of Halloween’s Michael Myers, A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger, Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head, Alien’s Xenomorph, and Hellraiser’s Pinhead, among many others. The game receives new content very frequently. This is done in the form of collaborations, events, and chapters.
These pave the way for adding new Survivors and Killers, which are added to keep the experience fresh. The game recently introduced the incredibly iconic Chucky from the Child’s Play franchise.
Who Is Chucky, the Latest Killer Added in Dead By Daylight?
The Good Guy, or Charles Lee Ray, better known as Chucky, is the latest addition to the game’s Killer roster. Many movie buffs may remember him from the Child’s Play franchise. In the movie, Chucky is a serial killer. Suffering from a gunshot wound, he transfers his soul into a “Good Guy” doll before bleeding to death. The doll has become iconic in the universe of horror cinema.
The reveal was made on Dead by Daylight‘s official website. Chucky will be available to play starting November 28. This is in accordance with the new Chapter 30, titled Chucky, by the developers.
The announcement made on Dead by Daylight‘s official website reads:
Dead by Daylight is thrilled to welcome the Good Guy himself, Chucky, with a new Chapter that features the infamous killer doll in full murderous glory.
The announcement continued:
He’s also the first Killer to use a third-person camera, which is an exciting change for Dead by Daylight fans.
Not just this, as per the announcement made by the developer, Chucky’s original voice actor will also reprise his role in the video game. Sharing details about the customization options that will be available for the killer, Behaviour Interactive also said:
Players can further customize the new Killer with the Good Gal outfit, inspired by Tiffany Valentine (aka the Bride of Chucky), which is voiced by Jennifer Tilly.
Since it will be the first killer to use a third-person camera perspective, it will be interesting to see how that affects the experience. That is because it will also lead to a wider field of view. But playing as a killer who stands as tall as Chucky will also prove to be a little difficult.
What Will Chucky Bring to Dead by Daylight?
Akin to the other Killers in Dead by Daylight, Chucky will possess abilities and perks. In a game as complex as Dead by Daylight, you need a good understanding of whichever Killer or Survivor you pick.
As mentioned earlier, Chucky’s stature puts him both at an advantage and at a disadvantage. While he will be harder to spot and blind. He will also be a little bit slower due to his height. It is confirmed that Chucky’s human form will also make an appearance when you try to hook Survivors. This also holds true for the repair intrusion mechanic in the game.
The difficulty rating for Chucky is moderate, meaning that if you know the basics of the Killer role, you shouldn’t have a problem.
These are the perks Chucky will possess:
- Hex: Two Can Play – Blinds all Survivors who stun or blind you for 1.5 seconds.
- Friends ’til the End – You will kill anyone who gets between you and your target.
- Batteries Included – Whenever you are within 12 metres of a completed Generator you are granted a +5 % Haste Status Effect.
Apart from these, Chucky will use the iconic chef’s knife as his primary weapon. Apart from that, he will have the following special abilities:
- HIDEY-HO MODE
- Grants the Undetectable Status Effect.
- Generates map-wide Footfalls, disorienting Survivors with sounds and footprints coming from many directions.
- SLICE & DICE
- While in Hidey-Ho Mode, Chucky has access to the charged Slice & Dice ability, allowing him to rush unsuspecting Survivors before leaping forward and performing a Slice & Dice Attack.
