Stranger Things is one of the most iconic pieces of sci-fi horror of this generation. The Netflix series quickly amassed a mass following after the first season, and the numbers kept climbing with every subsequent season. The end of the series in 2022 was a much-awaited event, and it spawned many collaborations with other pop culture franchises.

One of these was Dead by Daylight, the asymmetrical online multiplayer that allows players to become their favorite supernatural villains. Given the theme of the game, Stranger Things fits right into the mix, and we now have another addition from the series coming to the game.

Stranger Things’ Big Boss Comes to Dead by Daylight

The series is no stranger when it comes to grotesque and evil villains. Whether they’re from the Upside Down or our dimension, Eleven and the crew go up against some pretty intimidating foes on their adventures. However, the worst of them all was revealed in season four and became the big bad for the final season as well.

That’s right, we’re talking about Vecna, real name Henry Creel, also referred to simply as One. Considered the ruler of the Upside Down, Vecna is easily the most brutal villain in the series. Vecna prefers to toy with his prey, even after they have been captured. Given his affinity to torture and causing pain, it makes sense why he was chosen as a new villain for the game.

While this is not an addition people were expecting, as polls suggested a crossover with Helldivers 2, Vecna will no doubt bring a new play style to the game. The PlayStation Blog revealed this addition, stating the villain is going to be part of the Dead by Daylight: Dungeons and Dragons event.

The Stranger Things monsters have more or less been inspired and borrowed from Dungeons & Dragons lore, so it’s a perfect character to be added to the game given the ongoing event. The developers are also playing to the strengths of the Archlich, and this is where he would differ from the monster in the series.

The game is constantly adding new content for players to enjoy. Earlier in the year, we got some survivor perks inspired by Alan Wake, and now we have a villain using magic. Principal Game Designer Janick Neveu stated the team wanted to delve into the spellcasting abilities of this Killer.

Vecna’s spells have been inspired by the most updated lore from the franchise. The four being added to the game are: Fly, Flight of the Damned, Dispelling Sphere, and Mage Hand. Each has a specific use case. Fly allows for rapid traversal; Flight of the Damned creates a bullet-hell zone that can even go through walls; and Mage Hand allows for tagging and blocking of Pallets.

Dispelling Sphere may be the most useful spell in his arsenal. It reveals the location of all survivors on the map, as well as any Magic Items they have found. Dead by Daylight: Dungeons & Dragons will be available on June 3.
