Deadpool & Wolverine released its teaser, and it confirmed the appearance of Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, who played the character back in the original X-Men trilogy that was produced by Fox Studios. Along with this, it has also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will be appearing in her role as Elektra from Fox’s Daredevil film, returning for the first time since her solo venture in the role.
The film is also set to star Wolverine (and allegedly multiple variants of the character). With such a stacked cast, and so many cameos on the horizon, it makes sense that the film would include other key cameos, given that it would be integrating mutants into the MCU, while also bringing in the characters from Fox Studios’ Marvel roster. Here are 5 other cameos that fans can expect from Marvel’s latest mutant movie.
Ben Affleck’s Daredevil
Jennifer Garner will be making her return as Elektra, returning after 19 years since her appearance in 2005’s Elektra. However, the character made her first appearance in 2003’s Daredevil, which starred Ben Affleck as the titular Man Without Fear. While Jeniffer Garner is making her debut in the MCU, it is completely possible that Ben Affleck’s Matt Murdock also makes a brief appearance in the film. Given that Marvel is working hard to integrate the Fox Properties into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would be a perfect way to set up Daredevil: Born Again, or at least get fans hyped for the upcoming project.
Alpha Flight
When Fox bought out the film rights of the mutant population of Marvel Comics, the X-Men were not the only characters that became inaccessible to Marvel Studios. Among the teams that were no longer available to Marvel was Alpha Flight. While the team has been largely inconsequential, the team, in its first incarnation, starred Wolverine as one of its founding members. Given that the team is akin to the Avengers of Canada, and also important to the story of Wolverine, it is possible that the team could make a small cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine.
New Mutants
Similarly, New Mutants is also a property that has evaded Marvel Comics. Given that Colossus will make an appearance in the film, it could also set up the connection that has been missing for the characters from the comics: the fact that Magic is Colossus’ sister. Both characters exist in the X-Men universe but have not crossed paths. Given the integration of the mutants in the MCU, Colossus could make a reference to his sister, finally adapting the Rasputin family in a more comics-accurate light, while also introducing a flourishing mutant population into the MCU.
X-Men
The X-Men has been a lucrative team for Fox and Marvel, and it is without a doubt in their best interests to introduce the team into the MCU as soon as possible. With Pyro, Wolverine, and Deadpool already set to show up, it would not be above the studio to introduce the X-Men, in a more serious capacity than it did in the Deadpool films. Their introduction would also set the trajectory for the mutant side of things, and streamline the narrative, heading into Secret Wars.
The Fantastic Four
Marvel took to social media on Valentine’s Day to introduce the world to the case of its own Fantastic Four. Marvel’s First Family is finally set to star in their film in a connected universe in 2025. It must also be noted, that the film has not started production, and given that Deadpool & Wolverine was just announced, it is not a leap of the imagination to wonder if there is a connection between the two projects.
After all, we are nowhere close to a Blade project, but the casting was announced early, following which the character made an appearance in the Eternals. There is also the fact that other Fox Marvel properties are making an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine (like Elektra) so why not tie the entire Fox Marvel Characters together to introduce them boldly and excitingly into the MCU?
