One odd detail that has stood out to fans about the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer is the fact that Shatterstar is part of Wade’s birthday celebration. From what fans know as of Deadpool 2, Peter was the only X-Force member who had a meaningful interaction with Wade, while the other members of the X-Force (save Domino) were killed shortly after teaming up with Deadpool, including Shatterstar.
Shatterstar hails from the planet Mojoworld, which is a world by the tyrannical Spinless One Mojo. This world is analogous to a Network Television Studio, which Mojo runs through shows and films based on real people being pitted to fight against each other and die, for the entertainment of the spectators of Mojoworld.
Shatterstar’s appearance might be a clever deception
Deadpool & Wolverine is going to feature the Time Variance Authority, which is under new management with Loki helming the multiverse. This version of the TVA focuses on keeping the multiverse stable, rather than maintaining timelines and pruning the deviations from it. However, the TVA that is depicted in the teaser is vastly different from the one that we know, in that it functions like the old TVA, which is more militaristic and police-like, as opposed to the new MO that they have adopted.
This has led some to believe that what looks like the TVA is the Mojoverse, a planet from where Shatterstar hails from. Now, the reason Shatterstar is at Wade’s birthday is because Shatterstar and Wade forged a relationship while Deadpool was stuck in the Mojoverse. This would mean that the opening teaser footage is actually from the end of the film, where Deadpool has reached the end of his story arc.
The arc that is rumored to be set up here is that Deadpool needs to learn to move on from Vanessa, who has allegedly broken up with him (and inference drawn from footage revealed in the teaser). The end of this story arc will be before Deadpool learns to move on, something he manages to do by the end of the film. As for the TVA agents that show up outside his door, it could be right before he cuts the cake, and the TVA could drop Wade right back where they took him.
If Vanessa has indeed broken up with Deadpool, one hilarious romance could take its place
Deadpool has had a slew of romantic relationships in the Marvel Universe. Some of his most famous flings are with Death and Captain Marvel. However, Wade’s flirtations with Domino are the ones that are some of the most hilarious panels in the comics.
While the official work on their relationship is that they are strictly platonic, Domino has gone out of her way to respond to Wade’s flirtations to keep him in line when he has joined the X-Men. He then decides to behave, despite knowing the flirtation is going to go nowhere, which could be adapted into a hilarious exchange between Domino and Wade.
While there are a host of other love interests that Wade could go with, fans would love to see the love triangle between Thanos, Wade, and Lady Death, given that all these characters now co-exist in the MCU. Perhaps this could be the plot for a Deadpool film post-Secret Wars?
