Legendary visionary Hideo Kojima has expressed his satisfaction with the live-action debut of Moon Knight on his show exclusively streaming on Disney+. Moon Knight follows the story of a former mercenary named Mark Spector and how he received powers from the Egyptian Moon God, Khonshu, and served as his avatar to exact his vengeance on those who mean harm while dealing with his other personality, Steven Grant and Jake Lockley.

The premise is definitely up the director’s alley, and this is the kind of story he finds interesting and the weirdness and spectacle is something he can relate to.

Hideo Kojima’s Love for Moon Knight is Pure Fanboyism

Oscar Isaac wants to return as Moon Knight in the MCU
Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight is a great addition to the MCU.

It is not a secret that Kojima is a film enthusiast and a consumer of art in any form. Recently, his documentary titled: Connecting Worlds which focuses on his journey to independence and the creation of Death Stranding was released on the same streaming platform and one incredible project led to another. It also helps that he is a fan of the lead actor, Oscar Isaac, and has praised his performance by taking on a difficult role.

Hideo has always been fascinated with larger-than-life stories and incredible action. The Metal Gear series redefined the action-stealth genre, his work speaks for itself, especially with the visually stunning and highly convoluted world and story-telling of Death Stranding, a video game that almost feels like a feature film.

Based on his initial reactions, Hideo wants to see more of the Fist of Khonshu in future Marvel Studios projects.

Praising the originality of concept, artwork, and direction sounds like something “A Hideo Kojima Game” has nailed entirely. The MCU star has also been long attached to star in a live-action film of Metal Gear Solid as Solid Snake but the project has been stuck in development hell which isn’t uncommon for these adaptations. Perhaps seeing his performance as Moon Knight has fueled his desire to see this project to fruition with his friend, Jordan Vogt-Roberts at the helm.

Stories like Moon Knight is Exactly What Hideo Kojima Wants

Hideo Kojima, MCU, Moon Knight, Metal Gear Solid, Death Stranding
Hideo Kojima could learn a thing or two from Moon Knight.

Not everyone was a fan of the slow-paced nature of the first Death Stranding but the sequel’s trailers suggest it will be more combat-focused akin to the Metal Gear series. Hideo is always interested in humanizing and dissecting his characters and this was evident throughout Sam Porter Bridges’ journey from the first installment, and a running theme in the Moon Knight series.

The similarities between these projects show that the line between cinema and game development is nearly non-existent and both formats can truly deliver peak cinema.

The renowned director is speaking for the fans as they also want to see more of Moon Knight in the MCU, and perhaps more of this style of story-telling not just in the superhero genre. Perhaps the visionary could invite Isaac for a potential role in a third Death Stranding game, do you agree with Kojima’s opinions? Let us know in the comments below!
