Games with an excellent narrative never fail to impress gamers. Especially for those with an ever-changing story, this is a feat that only live-action games can achieve. One such game is one of 2024’s most successful live service games, Helldivers 2. Its developers take great pride in giving their fans an experience that never stays the same.

Most importantly, the story changes as players continue to play it. They must defeat their enemies and push hostile forces away from the planets they have a duty to protect. In this struggle, much can happen: they can lose, win, or just keep on fighting for a very long time. Winning is all good, but if they lose, they get some very unusual punishments.

The dynamic nature of Helldivers 2 has been discussed a number of times. Players can both win or lose, and effectively change the tide of this massive galactic war in an instant. This tide is also dependent on the player’s country, as was mentioned by the game’s creative director once.

The basic gist of this game is that players would be asked to fight through a bunch of enemies on a hostile planet. On that planet, they would be able to achieve full democracy by winning over their enemies. There are also chances that they would end up losing, and the stronghold would be lost to the enemies forever.

Hence, it becomes very important for gamers to fight as hard as they can and push through the enemy forces. Speaking of those enemy forces, players usually fight one of two factions in Helldivers 2, the Terminids, as well as the Automatons.

For those unaware, Terminids are a bunch of bugs, while Automatons are a faction of robotic enemies. Both of these factions have their own kind of enemies, and they have their own ways of making a player’s life hell.

This was evident recently when players fought Terminids and lost to them. Of course, they lost the mission they were trying to complete, and as is the nature of this game, received a report on their loss. This report says something very unusual.

MAJOR ORDER FAILED

Though many Terminids have been mercifully culled, the Helldivers were unable to penetrate as far inside the Quarantine Zone as ordered.

The expansion of our citizens to new planets will be reduced in line with the reduction of expected Element 710 to be produced. Further procreation applications will be denied until further notice.

This message basically boils down to them saying that the citizens mentioned in this text will not be reproducing anymore. Fans have really found this message to be very shocking, and while it makes sense, no one thought that the game would take such a turn.

This falls in line with the kind of sense of humor that developer Arrowhead Game Studios has shown before. Let’s not forget the time when the creative director of the game denied the existence of flying Terminids in the game and acted pretty shocked when they showed up.

Fans of the game cannot help but marvel at the fact that Helldivers 2 can get so dark with its storytelling. And they have decided to show their surprise on Twitter.

Let’s see how developers respond to this message. Of course, somewhere, a developer of Game Master Joel approved this message, but if it’s so shocking, they would probably reply with shocked reactions.
