Given that Marvel Studios has already tasted a bitter outcome with Brie Larson’s movie, many might think that they would’ve learned the lesson. But it seems otherwise as a new report suggests that the studio is seemingly considering a sequel to Eternals

After the Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios introduced a new team of superheroes, The Eternals, sent to Earth centuries ago to protect it from their evil counterparts. Introduced in the 2021 movie, Eternals, it surely solved a major issue for the MCU, which was to give a guardian to Earth as the Avengers got inactive after the end of the 2019 movie.

However, the movie ended up becoming a critical disaster, which managed to earn over $402 million at the worldwide box office. Not only did it receive criticism for being unable to live up to its predecessor’s level, but it also became one of the lowest-rated MCU films.

While it undoubtedly left MCU fans unimpressed with so many things, reports about the movie getting a sequel have long been swirling online. Scooper, Charles Murphy recently took to X to report about hearing similar news about Eternals 2 being considered “time to time.”

He replied to a fan’s tweet who enquired about the future of the Eternals franchise.

While the studio is yet to confirm the report, actor Patton Oswalt who voiced Pip the Troll told The Today Show last year about the movie’s sequel being considered with Chloé Zhao returning as director.

“They have announced there’s going to be an Eternals sequel, Chloe Zhao is going to direct it. So hopefully there will be more adventures of Starfox and Pip.”

Given that the 2021 movie left many questions unanswered, it is possible that the movie might end up making its place somewhere in the future. However, it might not be the best decision for Marvel given that they have already witnessed a major failure with The Marvels.

The Marvels Was a Major Disappointment in MCU!

Given that Brie Larson‘s Captain Marvel has already gained mixed reviews from fans, the results were reflected when The Marvels was released. Despite having three female protagonists that could have gained acclaim, it turned out to be otherwise with one of the reasons involving its poor storytelling and quality.

While many couldn’t help but point out how the first movie lacked any character development in Carol Danvers, the second movie pointed fingers at Larson’s acting skills which at times lacked connectivity to its character. The movie script also faced major criticism which made the movie more unrealistic, leading to several inconsistencies.

All these factors led the movie to hit rock bottom with the movie grossing $206 million worldwide against a gross production budget of $274.8 million. It also became one of the lowest-grossing MCU movies, that was enough of a hint for Marvel to stop making unnecessary sequels and rather focus on quality.
