Five Nights at Freddy’s was released on Halloween weekend 2023, and it scared up an impressive $80 million at the domestic box office and $132 million globally in its first weekend of release. This is a huge success for the film, which was made on a budget of just $20 million.

The movie is based off of a point-and-click survival game of the same name developed by Scott Cawthon in 2014. The horror video game adaptation is tied to Marvel Studios’ Black Widow. The film is produced by Blumhouse Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is Tied with Marvel Studio’s Black Widow

Josh Hutcherson starrer Five Nights at Freddy’s is now tied with Marvel Studio’s Black Widow for the largest-ever opening for a day-and-date release which means a movie that releases in theaters and on streaming the same day.

The pandemic-era release of Marvel Studios’ Black Widow collected $80 million in theaters and $60 million on Disney+.

Though the movie was not welcomed by critics, it still became a commercial hit as audiences could resonate with it. The film has a 27% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Alongside Hutcherson, the film stars Elizabeth Lail, Mary Stuart Masterson, Kat Conner Sterling, and Matthew Lillard.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is now playing in theaters and streaming on Peacock.
