Venom is one of Spider-Man’s most well-known and dangerous adversaries, whether it be in the world of comics, video games, or otherwise. It took a very long time for Venom to get a proper live-action portrayal, in the form of 2007’s Spider-Man 3. However, most fans prefer Tom Hardy’s role as the symbiote in Sony’s Venom saga.
Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is still a very new thing and cannot be compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as they are two entirely different entities. That said, Sony’s upcoming film titled Kraven the Hunter has already gotten fans hyped up in a big way. Fans also expect some crazy cameos in the film and they might just see them judging by what the star of the movie said recently.
Tom Hardy’s Portrayal As Venom In The Sony Movies Won Him Universal Praise
Tom Hardy is one of the best actors in Hollywood, who made a name for himself with roles in films and series such as Mad Max: Fury Road, Peaky Blinders, and more. Fans were sceptical about his portrayal in Sony’s Venom films before they released but all doubts were erased once they actually saw the movies.
Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom brought a new life to the character, which was previously maligned thanks to its portrayal in 2007’s Spider-Man 3. The role earned him universal praise from fans and critics alike, all agreeing that he was the highlight of both films. Venom: Let There Be Carnage especially explored Hardy’s range as the iconic character, but fans continue to wonder whether they have seen the last of Venom.
Will Venom Appear In Kraven The Hunter?
Ariana DeBose is currently building up excitement for her role as Calypso in Sony’s upcoming film Kraven the Hunter, which is set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, after the two Venom films and Morbius. There is a lot of hype for the film as it will be the first proper live-action rendition of the famous Spider-Man villain.
While speaking to Comicbook.com, Ariana DeBose was asked if fans can expect a Calypso that’s similar the the comics version. DeBose simply made it clear that fans should expect the unexpected from the film. This is a very interesting statement as it could certainly mean she hinted at a cameo from Venom in Kraven the Hunter. After all, Morbius name-dropped Venom in his film and Kraven could actually have him appear in the movie itself.
“I think you should expect the unexpected.”
It is to be noted that Venom made an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home as well, which is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Therefore, a Venom cameo in the upcoming Kraven the Hunter film would not be a surprise, should it happen. Sony’s Kraven the Hunter is slated to open in theaters on August 30, 2024, so we’ll have to see how the film will turn out.
