A Quiet Place is one of the most iconic and beloved movie series in the horror film genre. John Krasinski created masterpieces, not only through his acting but also by showcasing his genius through his direction. The series has become so beloved that fans have been anticipating a third part ever since A Quiet Place: Part II was released in 2020. This is why fans were extremely excited when the teaser for A Quiet Place: Day One was released.
Unfortunately for them, a recent interview with the cast has revealed some very disappointing news. One of the most anticipated things about the series, will not be happening in the prequel.
A Quiet Place: Day One Cast Delivers Disappointing Update For Fans
One of the most anticipated things that fans want from the world of A Quiet Place is to follow the story of the central family, portrayed by John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe. This is why when it was announced that the series would be getting a spin-off film called A Quiet Place: Day One, they were excited, expecting it to follow the lead family through the start of the chaos. To the fans’ surprise, the prequel film brought on a completely new cast of actors and follows a completely different story.
Lupita Nyong’o gave an interview with EW, where she talked about the upcoming film, also touching on the topic of Blunt and Krasinski’s presence in the movie. She stated that this film stands alone from the first two films, following its own story and not piggybacking off characters from the other films. Unfortunately, this would mean that other characters from the films, including Lee and Evelyn, will not be appearing in this movie.
“When you have a family, there is an innate expectation that they will want to stick together,” Nyong’o said. “We don’t have that in this film. We have these disparate individuals who collide into each other’s lives, and it is at a very pivotal time for the world. How do they negotiate survival together? What we get is really interesting — and even surprising — chemistry in the characters that meet each other along the way.”
It was also added that though, A Quiet Place: Part III was supposed to be released in 2025, the addition of the prequel has changed this timeline. This update will disappoint more than a few fans, who were hoping to get the third part sooner.
What Story Will A Quiet Place: Day One Follow?
Lupita Nyong’o then went on to talk about what A Quiet Place: Day One will bring, as well as its deeply interesting concept. The Oscar-winning actress stars alongside Stranger Things actor, Joseph Quinn. The antagonists of this entire universe are aliens who are extremely sensitive to sound and very hungry for humans.
“This notion of a quiet New York is one that will arrest many,”Nyong’o told, “It’s an impossible thing to imagine…. When you live there, you block out all the sound quite naturally. You just forget to hear the sound. I realized how hard it would be to survive in a world that required you to be silent in that particular city.”
The story of this prequel follows these creatures coming to a city like New York, which is known for its noise. Nyong’o went on to state that no one would have thought about how the Big Apple would do in such a situation, with the city’s loudness falling deaf to its citizens. It is safe to say that if a situation like this were to happen, New York would be at the biggest disadvantage.
