The hype around A Quiet Place: Day One gets stronger every day as the upcoming prequel suggests it would answer a lot of the lingering questions fans had ever since the release of the first two movies. The original film premiered in 2018 and followed the story of the Abbott family as they try to navigate the world where silence is the key to survival.
The prequel will feature franchise newcomers such as Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and veteran Djimon Hounsou, who already appeared in the sequel.
‘Man On Island’ Mystery Expected To Be Uncovered In A Quiet Place: Day One
Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o spoke with Entertainment Weekly to discuss her upcoming project with director Michael Sarnoski. The horror movie franchise was originally helmed by John Krasinski, but in this prequel, he serves as the writer.
“This notion of a quiet New York is one that will arrest many. It’s an impossible thing to imagine. When you live there, you block out all the sound quite naturally. You just forget to hear the sound. I realized how hard it would be to survive in a world that required you to be silent in that particular city.”
The movie hinges on the power of sound and silence. The aliens that invaded the Earth, called the Death Angels, are naturally set off by any noise. When they get triggered, they attack the source. Indeed, a bustling city like New York would be their nightmare.
As this is a prequel, fans would discover how everything started, from the arrival of the creatures down to other subplots of the movie that remain a mystery to the audience. One of them is the safe haven scene in A Quiet Place: Part II.
Djimon Hounsou will return in this prequel, and fans will finally get an answer as to his character’s origin and what led him to his situation in the sequel. Interestingly, they did not even give his character a name in the second film. Hounsou was only credited as “Man on Island.” Will we ever find out his identity? Nyong’o responded:
“Well, let’s just say that this film will satisfy many.”
Fans will have to wait a few more months for the answer as A Quiet Place: Day One rolls out in theaters on June 28, 2024.
Djimon Hounsou Remains Secretive About His Role In The Horror Franchise
Djimon Hounsou previously talked about his character during an interview with Screen Rant. The actor remains quiet about the particulars of his role, which truly makes him the most intriguing part of the movie.
“The only thing I can tell you is I’m just one of those who were able to get away. I got away and found a haven somewhere, and I’m championing for everybody else to… That’s it. I can’t say any more than that.”
Apart from the prequel, a third installment is also brewing at the headquarters which will serve as the direct sequel to the 2021 movie. Meanwhile, fans can watch the first two A Quiet Place movies on Netflix.
