While it’s tempting to find a Dragon Ball character that perfectly fits your fighting style, the beauty of arena fighter games is experimenting and exploring. That’s easier said than done, though, as people tend to gravitate towards their favorites and use them in battle after battle.

Some players choose their favorite characters based entirely on emotions, fueled by the nostalgia of seeing them on screen. Others decide their character based on the move set and what allows for the greatest number of wins. One character in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will cater more greatly to the latter category.

There are a lot of fast fighters in Akira Toriyama’s most celebrated works. Where once it was Burter who claimed the title of the fastest, he has long been surpassed by the numerous others who came after. Speed is difficult to measure in the universe, especially when Goku can travel anywhere instantaneously. But a new fighter has entered the race and may become the most used character in the game.

Dyspo, Captain of the Pride Troopers, has now been revealed to be part of the already massive roster for Sparking Zero. He does look a bit like Beerus, but where the God of Destruction specializes in strength, Dyspo focuses on speed. Some of his aliases include Dyspo the Sonic Warrior, the Warrior of Sonic Speed, and the Super Speed Warrior.

Fast characters in fighting games tend to become favorites for many online matches as they can make wins much simpler. It’s easier to land some hits and evade oncoming attacks. In Dragon Ball games, speedy characters typically have better auxiliary moves to cover distance and get in close.

While Dyspo is not one of the most beloved characters in the series, how the game handles him might sway the community’s opinion. If they do end up giving him a good move set, we can expect to encounter him a lot in online matches.

We have gotten to see a lot of the game so far, but one thing still hidden from us is a release date. Bandai Namco has not even provided a potential release window, so fans have their fingers crossed for it to be this year. The fact that the Xbox Store page for the game has been defunct for a few days is worrying people with Microsoft’s console, with some saying it might become a PlayStation-PC exclusive.

Fans have been getting a steady trickle of information on the game from various sources. Posters published in Japanese publications have also confirmed characters that many fans would be surprised to see included due to their low screen time in the series.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is Bandai Namco’s attempt at reviving the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi series. We are getting the same 3D arena fighting style, a departure from the 2D style of FighterZ. With the advanced capabilities of modern consoles, we can expect even better graphics and more dynamic environmental interactions.

Do you think the game will be released this year? Let us know in the comments!
