After nearly 17 years since the last game in the Budokai Tenkaichi series arrived, fans are having some massive expectations from Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. The long gap is obvious enough to make them speculate on many big changes, from graphics to combat, in the game. The latest debate regarding it will allow players to experience a battle royale-like experience.
Every question will be answered this year, as it may follow the same traditional release schedule as other games in the series. That means we could be just 5 months away from the release date, but of course, if there’s no delay for further development.
Nothing has been confirmed officially apart from a few characters and in-game mechanics that were revealed during the official trailers, available on video sharing platform YouTube.
Don’t Expect 80 Players to Show up in this Possible Battle Royale-esque Mode
The need for undivided attention will be unparalleled when multiple fighters are trying to give their best in a race to come up to the top. It’s a battle royale, but different from PUBG or Warzone, where one can camp. Dragon Ball arenas are much smaller to fight in, and fans are hoping that Bandai Namco can give them such an experience in their upcoming video game.
A tag-team mode in the next Dragon Ball game might have already been teased in the Master vs. Apprentice’ trailer, which already had the fans excited. It wasn’t too long before rumors of the feature occurred, and fans have been speculating about a free-for-all mode enabling 16 fighters to showcase their skills.

User Sonicrules9001 believes such a mode would be great for online gameplay. Unlike its predecessors, the next Budokai Tenkaichi won’t include split screen, so that sure adds room for one mini battle royale mode.
They Better be Fighting in One of Those Dragon Ball Outskirts
That won’t exactly be the Tournament of Power, but it sure would give the gamers a sense of it. Unlike the World Martial Arts Tournament or the Other World Tournament, where the fight is restricted to just two fighters, Tournament of Power sees 80 fighters go all in at once.
Moreover, it restricts flight abilities and the use of healing items during the battle. Not just that, the fighters remain a part of the battle even though they are rendered unconscious, they are out when they leave the fighting stage. Thankfully, killing other fighters isn’t allowed there, except for a few events.
Adding a mini battle royale will give a chance to Z fighters like Yamcha to take part in such a fierce battle mode. However, if that does make it to the game, it is unlikely we will see Goku and Frieza standing together to save their universe, given it may be a free-for-all mode.
