For more than 35 years, Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball and all of the show’s following sequels and spin-offs have influenced numerous generations of mangaka and spectators. Dragon Ball understands how to take on certain shonen storytelling patterns and trends while simultaneously breaking these norms in ways that keep continuing to surprise die-hard fans. Toriyama has introduced some mysterious characters in the world of Dragon Ball whose origins are unknown to this day. One such character is Yamoshi, the first Super Saiyan God.
Yamoshi was first introduced in God of Destruction Beerus Saga of Dragon Ball Super and fans have not heard about him since. However, one Dragon Ball Theory suggests that Yamoshi might still return to the series as a Legendary Super Saiyan Villain which could be a big thing for the Dragon Ball series and might even reveal the history of Saiyans.
Yamoshi – The First Super Saiyan God
The backstory of Yamoshi, the Legendary Super Saiyan who was the first to achieve this rank and eventually advanced to the level of Super Saiyan God, remains a mystery in Dragon Ball. Though he is never called by name, Yamoshi is mentioned in both Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. After his death, his spirit roamed around the universe in search of six pure-hearted Saiyans to perform the ceremony that would give birth to the Super Saiyan God. He was immortalized as the Legendary Super Saiyan and was supposed to be nothing more than a myth.
He made a brief cameo during the process in which Goku gathered five Saiyan souls to aid him in becoming a Super Saiyan God and fighting Beerus. Later, when losing to Beerus, Goku claimed that he had spoken to “the Super Saiyan God power,” who advised him not to give up. However, a popular Dragon Ball theory might confirm his return to the series as a villain.
Yamoshi May Return in Dragon Ball
In the world of Dragon Ball, the character of Yamoshi is a bit of a mystery. He was reputedly one of the first, if not the first, Super Saiyan in history. According to the Namekian Book of Legends, Yamoshi would later become the very first Super Saiyan God. There are also references to Yamoshi, an ancient Saiyan figure who appears to be the prototype for the Super Saiyan God. Yamoshi has fueled so much fan conjecture that some believe he will ultimately appear as an upcoming movie villain to put this discussion to bed.
This theory makes a lot of sense because Saiyan’s history and how they became a warrior race is still a mystery, and a movie explaining Yamoshi and his origin might help with that.
