The Super Saiyan adaptations have been one of the Dragon Ball storyline’s most anticipated and hyped transformations. Goku attaining Super Saiyan is often deemed the greatest powerup in anime and manga history, and ever since, the Super Saiyan form has kept evolving more and more.
However, there is one particular form that Vegeta can never achieve, which Goku and Gotenks have mastered: Super Saiyan 3. The reason why Vegeta can’t go to Super Saiyan 3 is not stated in the manga. However, one theory suggests that it might be due to the form being very unnatural and can only be attained in particular conditions.
Vegeta can never achieve Super Saiyan 3 like Goku due to its unnatural form in Dragon Ball
In the official Dragon Ball canon, there’s one Super Saiyan state that Vegeta has never achieved: Super Saiyan 3. It’s a form that grants immeasurable power and is a powerful transformation in the series.
Viewers often ponder why Vegeta, the prince of Saiyans, failed to unlock such a potent form. Unlocking Super Saiyan 3 would significantly enhance his powers and may have changed many aspects of the story.
However, Vegeta never unlocked it, and according to a theory by a Reddit user, u/KaboomKrusader, he will never achieve the form that Goku and Gotenks have mastered. The theory suggests that Super Saiyan 3 is unnatural and outside Saiyan’s physical abilities.
The user explains that Super Saiyan 3 should not exist but is a transformation that can only be achieved in exceptional circumstances. Goku achieved it because he was dead and later revived, while for Gotenks, it was achievable due to their unique fusion.
It also states that nobody was aware of such a form until they saw Goku in action, and it does seem true, as even future trunks had no idea about this transformation. Super Saiyan 2 is the standard limit, so Vegeta and Trunks attained it, worked on it, and made it better and more efficient.
Vegeta not unlocking Super Saiyan 3 didn’t have any significant impact on him in Dragon Ball
Vegeta unlocking Super Saiyan 3 could easily have been one of the most iconic moments in the Dragon Ball franchise. However, we never got the chance to see it and that will most likely remain unchanged.
However, the Prince of Saiyan didn’t let it hinder his growth and managed to stand toe-to-toe with Goku in his Super Saiyan 2 form. This was evident when Goku, in Super Saiyan 3 form, could not do much damage to Beerus, who kept toying with him.
Meanwhile, Vegeta gave Beerus a much better fight in his Super Saiyan 2 form, landed a more decisive blow, and depicted better Ki control than Goku. Vegeta is undoubtedly strong enough to pull off the Super Saiyab 3 transformation in Dragon Ball Super, as his physical abilities are top-notch. However, he still decided against it.
Now that Vegeta has gone far beyond Super Saiyan 2, we can see that not attaining Super Saiyan 3 had no significant impact on him or the storyline of Dragon Ball.
